If there are any more games that you think should happen every year post them

1) Tulane vs. LSU (Thanksgiving, Super Dome / Baton Rouge)
2) NC State vs. East Carolina (Thanksgiving Home/Home)
3) Marshall vs. West Virginia (Home/Home)
4) Pitt vs. West Virginia
5) Texas vs. Texas A&M (Thanksgiving)
6) Arkansas State vs. Arkansas (Labor Day Weekend in Little Rock)
7) Cincinnati vs. Louisville
8) Memphis vs. Ole Miss
9) Florida vs. Miami
10) Maryland vs. Navy
11) Temple vs. Penn State
12) Temple vs. Rutgers
13) Boston College vs. UConn
14) Miami (OH) vs. Cincinnati
15) Notre Dame vs. Michigan
16) Illinois vs. NIU
17) UTEP vs. New Mexico
18) UTEP vs. NM State
19) NM State vs. New Mexico (Thanksgiving)
20) BYU vs. Utah State
21) Utah State vs. Utah
22) Utah vs. BYU (Thanksgiving)
23) Houston vs. Rice (Thanksgiving)
24) Eastern Washington @ Washington St. (Labor Day Weekend)
25) UAB vs. Alabama (week before Thanksgiving, gives Alabama a defacto home game in Birmingham every other year)
26) Southern Miss vs. Ole Miss
27) Southern Miss vs. Mississippi State
28) WKU vs. Kentucky
29) Memphis vs. Tennessee
30) Eastern Michigan @ Michigan (First Home Game for Michigan)
31) Kansas vs. Missouri (Thanksgiving)

Cincy vs. Louisville (#7) should resume their annual rivalry in both football and basketball annually. It was one of the oldest continuous rivalries in the country (since 1929) until the demise of the old Big East.

UC should also have more frequent home and home contests with Ohio State, again in both football and basketball. Not annually, but every other year, perhaps. It's been a long time since the Buckeyes have agreed to play Cincy in Cincy and actually showed up, maybe because they were damned lucky to escape with a late 4th quarter victory the last time they played there.

UC and tOSU should definitely play every year on the hardwood. UC, OSU, Xavier and Dayton should kick off the season with an exempt tournament.

25 And 30 never happen, regularly anyways. Some shouldn't even be up there.

Not Kansas-Missouri. One criterion should be, would the game get better TV ratings than a conference game between two average P5 teams. Pick two teams that were about average last year. Georgia-Kentucky, TCU-Texas Tech, whatever. The other four games you listed pass that test. A Kansas-Missouri football game does not.

Please. That was the only year in the last 100 years in which both teams were ranked. Any game between two ranked teams near the end of the season gets good ratings.

If someone ever suggested that Cal vs Stanford wasn't to be played because of TV ratings you'd fall on the floor laughing...

You're distorting. The idea of the thread is that all of these games are so important that the teams should be compelled to play them every year whether they want to play each other or not. Cal and Stanford are in the same conference. If someday in the future they are not in the same conference, and there is not enough interest to play it as a non-conference game, then so be it. In those circumstances, no one should force them to play.

But someone suggested, and you appear to be agreeing, that the one and only year ever in which both Kansas and Missouri were ranked is somehow evidence that the game is every-year must-see TV. Sorry. Not buying it.

We'll see who cares when the cats leave Oxford on the wrong side of the scoreboard this September. The decade-plus joyride against Miami is over.

Miami-Marshall used to a great rivalry when then they were in the MAC, but it went dead for a while. We had a home-and-home during our winless season and the one following, we're starting one up again this fall. Wouldn't mind seeing it relatively often, although with one of four OOC games taken by UC and one with a buy game, it doesn't give us much maneuvering room for scheduling other teams.

Also, it appears the ACC is trying to make NCSU vs UNC a Thanksgiving Weekend game since this will be the 3rd straight year the game has been played on that weekend.

I agree, however we both know UNC vs. Duke is the the Thanksgiving game, and NC State and ECU should play on Thanksgiving as well. It would be the best for the entire state of North Carolina and really create more college football noise in our state late in the season which we seem to lose as the season goes along and as basketball season approaches.

In football, I have to disagree that Duke vs UNC is the bigger game. Wake vs Duke makes more sense. I think ECU vs ASU could become a great rivalry game. Still, it seems ECU would want to have an AAC rivalry game on that weekend. Who is ECU's AAC arch rival? I would say UCF but it seems like USF/UCF would play that weekend.

ODU will eventually become ECU's AAC rival.

Don't agree at all with this^ don't put thoughts in my head. The game is a college sports rivalry game. College sports are about tradition and rivalries. Don't care what the rankings are. I've watched Stanford vs Cal if it comes on TV because it's a rivalry game, not because either were highly ranked.--which like Kansas vs Missouri, is rarely the case. I'm from Iowa originally and know how huge the game is, just like I know about Cy-Hawk and Bedlam rivalries even though it was rare for both Iowa and Iowa St to be ranked at same time and until recently OSU was rarely ranked when they played OU in Bedlam.

I would think that a reasonable scheduling goal for ECU would be to have UNC home and home, alternating with NC State home and home so that the Pirates have one of the two every year and get one of them in Greenville every other year.

I would try to make all these games the season opener.

Virginia Tech and Tennessee. Knoxville is closer to Blacksburg than over half of VT's ACC opponents, and most of Tennessee's. [/u]
