JMU Alumni Team in The Tournament (Founding Fathers)
Hello all,

We're back this year. Kevin Albright and I have put together another JMU Alumni team to hopefully compete in The Tournament this year. If you are unfamiliar with The Tournament, here is a link about what it is and how it works.

The toughest thing about getting in is getting enough votes to get in and this is where we need you all and the rest of JMU Nation's help. The voting is how we got left out last season so let's not let JMU get left out this season when teams like VCU are getting in!

Please go to out team page, The Founding Fathers (JMU Alumni). Yes, you do have to make an account to vote but if you voted last year your account should still be active. You can then use your unique link to invite other friends to vote for our team and gain points from that. If we win The Tournament, our top 20 fans (based on the points from inviting other people) get in on the prize money as well so it benefits you to recruit voters for us!

So far our roster is made up of Ron Curry, AJ Davis, James Millen, Devontae Morgan and Kyle Swanston. Denzel Bowles, Ray Goins and Trevon Flores will hopefully be added in the next day or two and a chance we get Devon Moore as well.

We plan on reaching out to JMU Sports, the JMU Almuni Association and hopefully adding Moats to our roster as our "booster" to further assist in getting as many votes as possible.

Please let us know if you have any suggestions for getting votes or ways to make our team better, we want this to be JMU Nation's team!

Be sure to follow us on Twitter as well as we will be putting updates and other information on there. Our Twitter handle is @FoundFathersTBT.

Thanks for the support,
Joe Kuykendall

Also, don't be discouraged by our page saying ineligible....it will say that until we get 100 votes and have seven players on the roster which will both happen in the next couple of days.

Vote cast. Account from last year still worked.

Incredibly easy process - everyone should vote!

Thank you all for voting. Really appreciate it.

We are officially eligible now and have since added Trevon Flores and Denzel Bowles to the roster.

Here is the voting link again so please be sure to vote and spread your own voting link so that you can get points and get in on the $2 million prize if we win the tournament.

We have already made a good voting push to start and know that JMU Nation can make it an even bigger push!

Here is an interview we did with Dave Thomas on ESPN Harrisonburg for you all to hear more about the team and The Tournament (skip to the 6:15 mark to hear it).

Thanks, as always!

Unfortunately, you can only vote once per email so the only way to vote more than once is to use other email accounts you have.

Joe why the heck are we in the Northeast region? I feel like it might help us but using the geographic breakdowns from the site it sure looks like we are in the southeast.

We choose the region we want to play in, it is not assigned, so we chose Northeast because of the amount of Ohio players, Ron being from Philly and both Kevin and I being from the Northeast. We are responsible for our travel expenses for the first round only so it seemed more feasible to get everyone to Philly for that first weekend than Charlotte.

I don't know you but please allow me to provide some insight. That sort of transparent and common sense response to a question could break this message board. JMU Nation is not use to that sort of info around athletics. Also, I appreciate your due diligence to determine the best conference, errr I mean region, but you really fudged up by implementing the obvious/right/logical choice. Have no worries though, if you continue to monitor this board and the athletic program you will assimilate to JMU athletics company line. Please edit your post to state, "We looked at the landscape of the regions and the northeast seemed cool, and the south didn't invite us anyway, but we will continue to monitor."

RE: JMU Alumni Team in The Tournament (Founding Fathers)
Just wanted to bring this back to the top again to remind/ask to please cast your vote if you have not already.

We have made a pretty good voting push the past couple of days which is big time considering the June 1st deadline is approaching. We've surpassed an eligible team in the past 24 hours and are 13 votes shy of surpassing another.

We have a few exciting roster announcements which should be made tomorrow or Thursday.

Also, right now we have a Facebook giveaway going on--giving away a JMU Basketball hoodie sweatshirt: https://www.facebook.com/TheFoundingFath...17/?type=3

And here is the link to our team page to vote: http://thetournament.com/teams/founding-...jmu-alumni

Keep voting, keep rooting, keep sharing and keep bleeding (purple)!

Thank you for all the support so far but let's do our best to make this a reality.

Saw where Andre Nation was added to the team. Hope these guys make it to the actual tournament based on getting enough votes because it would be cool to see a team of Bowles, Curry, Nation, etc. play together.

Confirmed, that we have added Andre Nation. He is working out now and tying to play overseas so hopefully we can get in and gain some exposure for him. We need to have a big week for voting to make it all happen, though, so please continue to vote and share we REALLY appreciate it. Voting ends June 1st.

Unfortunately, though, Denzel is no longer on our team. We looked at our roster the other day to see him gone only to learn of him joining the VCU Alumni team. We're not sure why but we will move on and put the best team together that we can. Still think it will be a great combo of alumni. We have two more roster spots and hopefully have some announcements for those this coming week.
