Good read on Turkey
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/13/magaz...front&_r=0

Good article on what's going on with Turkey.

Not short, but most of the gist is in the first 20% with the story about the doctor. As you read on, you can see Syria and Iraq repeating themselves. Turkey appears to be turning itself into an anti-intellectual basket case.

Islamism is rooting out secularism. Islam is an enemy to true democracy.

Apparently he was expecting more than 51%. Probably won due to a combination of voter fraud and controlling the media while jailing the opposition. Just before the election, they tightened the rules for proving voter fraud.

He now has the ability to be the leader until 2029. I'm just hoping democracy in Turkey did not die this past weekend.

Erdogan probably didn't want to leave his 600 million dollar, 1150 room Presidential Mansion.

Democracy in Turkey is definitely on a lifeline right now.

Just like their odd of obtaining EU membership. If it's not dead by now, it's certainly circling the drain.

Turkey was never going to be allowed to join the EU. EU will cite multiple issues with membership, but in the end, IMO, it is about religion.
