ECU will just have to be the AAC's DePaul until pride kicks in. Hopefully the conference installs scheduling mandates, so their 300+ OOC rank wont repeat.
Not worried about Tulane, yet, with Dunleavy putting his program together. When TU hired Troy Dannen, that was a big step forward.

Tulane and ecu need to schedule better; we don't need sub 200 and 300 teams in this conference.

Tulane actually had a really nice schedule this year, big change from Ed Conroy years. Oklahoma was 171, AZ State was 124, Mizzou was 255, Southern Miss was 331, St. John's 140. That's not going to happen often.
With any sort of big men we would have won a couple of those games, we got 2 7 footers coming in. I'm hopeful for the future of our bball program. Still shocked Dunleavy was ok going into this season without any inside presence.
RE: CBS Matt Norlander: "The 'Major 7' in College Basketball"
The occasional 250-300 on a schedule isn't a huge problem. Everyone needs a tune-up game to make sure the new guys know their jobs and the offense is ticking. The problem is losing your tune-up games, or letting yourself become a tune-up game.
Heck, most years that Tulane noncon wouldn't be that bad. Oklahoma certainly crapped the bed, and Mizzou and St. John shouldn't be that bad.

I believe an easy solution to the autobid is that in order for a conference to qualify for an autobid, it must have had 3 at large selections in the past 5 years. That will free up a lot of spots. It will get rid of the pure garbage teams, and replace them with decent teams, making the tournament better overall. It will also FORCE the crappy-ass conferences to do better so that they can keep their autobid.

Hell even 2 at large bids over 5 years would cut out the riff raff.
RE: CBS Matt Norlander: "The 'Major 7' in College Basketball"
The whole point of the NCAA tourney is that anyone can win it. Win your conference tourney and you're in. If you start requiring at-large bids to even get in the tourney then soon it will be nothing but the usual suspects. George Mason and Butler in the final four? Not happening in your scenario. Deep run by Steph Curry and Davidson? Nope. FGCU and Dunk City? Just some other Florida team in the NIT. The most exciting and interesting parts of the tourney this century wouldn't exist.

Wichita State is a fine program, and a wise addition to the AAC. But if we (the Big East) thought that highly of you, we'd have invited you into our conference.

The autobid is arguably the greatest thing about the tournament. I have no clue why anyone would want to eliminate or restrict it. Then it pretty much becomes college football where you only have a chance if you're in the right conference.

The NBE is adhering to a religious litmus test. It has nothing to do with standards.

So it's funny... Whenever I go to a Big East, Big
XII, or any other major conference boards, I can't find one single thread touting a sportswriter including them on a list of "Major Conferences," or threads declaring themselves as "major" conferences.
This board has the biggest case of "small man" syndrome that I have ever encountered.

It's Bearcat Jerry's personal duty to make sure that we know how much he hates the AAC and that we know our place

You seriously have no clue. Nothing like coming in here and creating Enemies from the start. Garbage? Says a school with no football. ECU has held the banner for attendance and is usually badass in football. Tulane will beat you this next year in basketball and football. And baseball.. bearcat#1 please save this thread. For me:). Oh I forgot we can't play in football. Let's replace that with cow tipping. That may give you a win. As for your teams I do wish them success because that what conference mates do. Consider yourself lucky to be here and ECU voting and Tulane voting for you should not be taken lightly.

i'm with ya pablowow. Nothing like a new conference member to come in and start calling other current members garbage. Like the line in Animal House...
