New Kansas St athletic director ... football coach to follow?
Gene Taylor is the new Athletic Director at Kansas St. He was the AD at North Dakota St for many years, including in the early 2000's when he hired former Nebraska defensive coordinator Craig Bohl to be the head coach of the Bison.

That eventually lead to three straight national championships at the FCS level, and Bohl being hired as the HC at Wyoming.

Have to wonder, with Bill Snyder entering his 25th year at KSU, will Taylor look to Bohl again? 04-rock

Bill Snyder is perhaps the best coach to ever coach the game.

He will be allowed to retire, again, in his own time.

The new AD would have a short tenure if he were to do anything against Snyder.

For those of us old enough to remember, Kansas St was possibly the worst football program in the country in the 80's before Snyder left Hayden Fry and Iowa and preformed a miracle in Manhattan.

Snyder will be allowed to retire again. But then again, Snyder is 77, and his current contract is up after the 2017 season. He'll turn 78 during the season. To think he'd want to stay on after this year is a reach IMO.

Not many remembers.

But everyone "knows".

Really? They had to force Bowden out at 79. He would have stayed on if he could. Paterno was still coaching at 84. Connie Mack coached until he was 88.

I wouldn't assume anything, and would actually be surprised if he voluntarily quit.

He is also being treated for cancer. With that as a health issue and the fact that his contract is up after this season he may decide to retire at season's end anyway. I agree though that K-ST would be foolish not to let him retire on his on say though even if he wanted to go another year or two beyond his current contract while they started searching for his replacement again. He pulled the rabbit out of the hat not just once but twice after his replacement ran the program back into the ground after he retired the first time. Snyder is a class act and a legend out there and hopefully will go out on top again with the success he has had there in his second tenure too. 04-cheers 07-coffee3

By no means, was I implying that Snyder wouldn't be given anything but the utmost respect and final say on when he steps down. Of course he will.

I was implying that time is coming sooner rather than later, and this in fact may be Craig Bohl's ticket back into the Big 12.

Granted, it would behoove Bohl to win the MWC this year at Wyoming. But they are on an upward trajectory there.

Snyder thinks very highly of the NDSU program. The Bison beat KSU in Manhattan a few years ago and Snyder sent the Bison QB, who orchestrated the last minute game-winning TD drive, a personal hand-written note of congratulations and encouragement.
