plus, A10 and AAC are both under ESPN contracts...so that would work out.

It's a step down; we need to shoot for the pac 12 (they don't have a challenge partner) or the big east.

AAC was RPI#7 and the A10 was RPI#8

it's about generating good RPI matchups as our top 7 or 8 teams pair well with their top 7-8 teams and creating solid TV match ups...an AAC vs A10 challenge achieves both of those goals.

and as I previously mentioned ESPN would be all over it as we both have ESPN contracts.

just my opinion.

Then do two liked the big east; we need the PAC challenge to keep pace with the majors.

A-10/AAC challenge makes sense to me. The PAC/AAC? That would be amazing but why would the PAC schools fly to Uconn and Temple? Cincy and USF flying to Corvallis and Pullman? Don't get me wrong, I'd love for ECU to get a chance to host UCLA and Arizona, but how do we get them to go for this?

Lots of frequent flyer miles...lol

I could see you guys getting a home game with a PAC 12 team. I can SMU and Houston getting a Utah or Colorado so they can recruit Texas...I don't see Arizona ever coming to ECU, though I can dream.

The AAC should definitely shift focus to the PAC... Pretty sure tv networks will be thrilled in picking up some of the matchups $$$ it would create.

We should absolutely try to schedule quality A-10 and MWC opponents, but creating a challenge with either conference is not going to help our perception. P5 + Big East or bust.

You forgot one there, so I'll add it:
San Jose St at ECU.
We beat Air Force last year and I want some new MWC blood. Tulane can have Air Force this time.

it could make for some really interesting games...I'm down

UMass is ours lol

RI is a better team right now...moreover, Temple vs UMass has a lot of history behind it.

I wonder who WSU would want?

so does UConn and UMass our rivalry goes back the Yankee conference days lol. IK we would crush them but i would be fun for old times ya know what i mean

Agreed. We want to be big time, then why schedule a challenge against a non power league. We want to be a power 7 in hoops and p6 in football, we better act like it.

And aside from the optics of just establishing the challenge in the first place, what happens if we go out and lose the challenge in year 1? With a currently top-heavy league, we would risk losing some of the less glamorous match-ups. Then you would see headlines like, "After Losing First Challenge to A-10, is the AAC a Power Conference?"

With TJ Cline graduating, Richmond's top rebounder is 6'4 215. We're not losing to them.

What conference challenges exist, currently? I'm aware of SEC vs. Big <XII, and ACC vs B1G... what others?

As far as AAC vs A10 or whoever... if there's good television coverage I'd at least take a close look. If it's going to be on ESPNU or whatever, then probably a bad idea.
