That said, there are several ex-Kent players that are assistants at good programs. Besides Haut, Jordan Mincy is an assistant at Florida St and Armon Gates is an assistant at Northwestern. If Kent wanted to go the alum route, there are some good choices.

RE: Losing BB assistant - Ultimate Insult
It's one of the untold stories of the women's season. Pat took a leave of absence "for personal reasons" sometime between semesters. I don't know any details.

So the team essentially had only two assistants through the entire conference season, with Allison Seberger doing a lot more than most directors of operation.

Hopefully we will have a few coaches left. Damn 1 to YSU and 1 to the women's team? Pathetic. Instead investing in turf for the worst program in KSU history maybe our punter can find some money for the "priority" program. I for one will send a check to Sendy rather than attend the auction. If you attend the auction our punter can decide where it goes

Congrats to Mike on the promotion! Great to see how valued our men's coaches continue to be. The sign of a healthy program.

Huh. I didn't even know he was gone. That's how observant I am. Maybe my wife has a point!!

RE: Losing BB assistant - Ultimate Insult
I don't view either assistant move as an insult:

1) Bobby was here for 8 years and this is a promotion. Eric is viewed as next in line so Bobby has likely done all he can here. He exited gracefully and had great things to say at Sendy and program. Most coaches don't exit that way its just see ya.

2) The DBO position is restricted $$. That was probably fine when Mckee was in grad school but coaching is an out or up business most of the time. Great for him that he gets a full time job. I'm very impressed with womens coach so this could be great long term for Mike. There are plenty of DBO candidates that can fill Mike's role.

I am sure that the Director of Basketball Operations in the men's program was less $$ than an Assistant in the women's program. If he hadn't agreed to the position, what would the $$ difference between an assistant with the men's and the women's been? I enjoyed reading the article in the local paper and the close relationship that Mike and Todd developed this year and their respect for each other as coaches.

Perhaps Naz Bohannon was waiting to commit to Youngstown State for this reason? I know some of us here really wanted him...

I just read it is the engineering department that interests him. Balancing engineering and basketball cannot be easy. Kudos to him.

Coach Starkey made the same move early on in his career, from a mens asst coach to a women's asst coach. Probably saw the same path for Mike and offered him the job.

Yeah, I don't see Bobby moving onto YSU to be the associate head coach as an insult. It will be interesting to see who KSU hires as the Steinburg & McKee replacements. It will also be interesting to see if KSU increases the assistant coaching pool for KSU Men's Basketball if it is in fact the priority of the Athletic Department.

I'm just wondering...How possible is it to move from coaching women back to coaching men?

Wow, I'm kind of surprised he went there but big get for them. If it was engineering that had his attention I'm glad he choose them over the other big north east Ohio engineering school. I expect some exciting matchups between him and Duling over the next 4 years.
