I have seen some of you posting this over and over. Could someone point me to any article or podcast where it happened? Hint - you can't because it is simply not true. Matter of fact it is the exact opposite. They were both on the train that it was a bad marriage that needed to end starting several years ago. I really do wonder where some of you folks get this stuff. It is like you live in an echo chamber or something.

Kinda cool.
I asked him about Raynere Thornton and he said he'd ask about him.
Is that what Memphis bball has become? I think I'm going to be sick.
This is a program that has seen guys like Keith Lee, Penny Hardaway, Lorenzen Wright, DaJuan Wagner, Derrick Rose, Tyreke Evans, etc. come through. Now we are resigned to "One of my customers has actually heard of a kid we recruited! He thinks he's super!"
I want to throw up. Seriously.

There's a reason Tubby has spent the last nine seasons at places like Minnesota and Texas Tech. You think schools with high bball expectations were after him at any point during that time? Think a school like Indiana or UCLA or Florida or Arizona ever even remotely considered him as an option when they had openings?
Memphis bball should be in a position to hire a guy who is coveted by other good schools. Guys like Chris Holtman or Chris Mack. Not Tubby Smith. Hiring Tubby Smith is almost the equivalent of Cincinnati hiring Tubberville in football. Just because a guy had success a long time ago doesn't mean they are good now.
At best, Tubby will sneak Memphis into the tournament in 2-3 years, but with no real chance of going to the Sweet 16 or making serious noise. Not with the players he recruits. Hasn't happened in 12 seasons. That won't change.
So if you're cool with sneaking into the tournament, then maybe Tubby will meet your expectations. I know he won't meet mine.

Called Kessee and Chad "mostly a success".
Hard to recruit locally against Ole Miss, State, MTSU, and Tennessee...
Unbelievable.
Those points stood out to me as well. For the life of me I cannot see how anyone reads that and does not think it is troublesome.

The expectation at Memphis isn't just to make the NCAA Tournament. It's to make the Sweet 16 once every four-five years.
Tubby isn't going to do that with the players he recruits.
JP had the players and failed miserably for seven seasons at meeting those expectations.
I don't think any of us are trying to have this Tubby v. Pastner argument with you. Pastner was terrible, but his recruiting and a few tournament appearances bought him some extra time. Then our incompetent administration awarded him an extremely favorable, one-sided contract that he never deserved and we were stuck with him for three years (much like our current situation).
Great points!

That's right. You hit the nail on the head. GP's treatment of josh was without question soft and weak, all because he liked him. In the end that's what this comes to. If he likes you he will play nice nice. If he doesn't like you, whenever the coach does the smallest of things wrong, guys like gp will pound away. It's pathetic.
