Republicans overreaching during their first significant time in charge in forever. We were able to kick the puppet out as governor but the rest will take some hard fights and hopefully dems will be in charge come 2020 so we can at least get some more level districts drawn up (or he'll have outside people draw up districts). This is the boiling point of the past 4 years being under complete republican rule. Not to mention end continues to get empty promises. Greenville should be at the level of Wilmington and Jacksonville and yet we're just now getting infrastructure to be even in the beginning phases of becoming that.

You are an optimist. I hope you are right.
They rode the Tea Party movement in 09/10 to control. Not only does history show us that the party without control of the White House does better in the midterm, but Trump and the entire Republican Party is even alienating their own base. There is resistance on both sides and the Dems only need a Net gain of 3 seats in the senate.

And by taking control just before the 2010 census they were able to execute the most strategically effective, extreme and overtly partisan redistricting jobs ever put in place. They made previous gerrymandering efforts in NC look bipartisan, which they weren't, but that is just how stacked they made the deck in 2010! The GOP legislature continues to consolidate their power, weakening local government, the executive and judicial branches etc. etc. The affect will be long lasting. It will take a couple of decades to turn the ship around. The 2020 census will come and go before there will be enough push back to shift the legislative balance. Hang on, cause this is going to be a bumpy ride.
I disagree with the last part. There will be 2 elections before redistricting and every member of the state general assembly has to run both times. House has to be a net gain of 18 and Senate a net gain of 11. If we chip into it by half each time and keep Cooper as governor we'll be back all blue for the drawing. Also on the national level, Tillis is up for reelection 2020 when the nation is likely to go widely blue baring another Clinton like fiasco so he may be on the way out then too.
Dems going Clinton screwed over everyone. Bernie was the better choice and would've gotten Obama type numbers to the polls.

This is devolving into straight politics, but I think that Bernie would have been even more of a disaster.
Bernie and Trump are the same thing w/ different constituencies. Both promise something for nothing. And both aren't realistic. But both have niche fanatical followings.

Bernie and Trump are not the same thing. Bernie had plans and a track record. Trump had no plans, no track record, and told no truths.
Also I hear Trump pulls for Texas and thinks Herman will do a bigly job for them since he's not at UH anymore (clear bait but we gotta steer this back to the AAC haha)
