Thanks. I was worn out by the let's divide this way or that way.
I'm more interested in WHY it might happen and the process to make it happen.

Yep, some good ideas in there. I don't think ODU minds being associated with anyone in the west it just doesn't further our goals as much as regional opponents would. I highly doubt ODU received a single admissions application from a TX highschool student because of our exposure there. More exposure in NC and western VA would yield tangible benefits.

The reality is that our university and virtually every other in C-USA have separated ourselves from the belch and want nothing to do with that dumpster fire. It ain't gonna happen, but keep dreamin'.

Sounds like you're going to experience a nightmare within five years.

Before App joined the SBC I didn't know anything good or bad about LA Tech, funny how a delusional fanbase can shape one's opinion of a school.

That's why the CFP cuts us a fatter check every year. You've separated by falling behind.

RE: Yet more realignment
Let's just hit a reset button. What are there 121 teams now? No conference has any teams and no teams are affiliated with no conference or a rival. We have the same number of conferences and they can either stay at the current membership or shrink. No one is allowed to go over 14. If we really want to discuss realignment. Clearly this would never happen but would be interesting to see how many actual teams would stay in their current conference.

Oh yes, those multiple NCAA bids each year, the baseball dominance and national title, all the CFP money.... Separation is in full effect!!! 03-lmfao03-lmfao

Look, Neither CUSA or the SBC is a golden goose for anyone. It is up to each school to make it work. Since we lost several schools to CUSA, our budget has nearly tripled, we keep winning titles and going to bowl games, our facilities have improved beyond most of either conference and we are selling more season tickets than ever before.

Give me some more of that separation, boss!!!! 02-13-banana

If you know any [honest] "insiders" at your school, ask them how it felt when Tech begged the Belt to take you back just to be met with a big, middle finger. Luckily for you, C-USA tossed you a lifeline.

There is no evidence whatsoever that ANY of the schools that make up CUSA are even warm to the idea of a merger between the SBC and CUSA. An ODU beat writer created this entire story out of thin air, and now, some of you people are allowing yourselves to get your hopes up that a miraculous realignment scenario is about to occur that will FINALLY elevate YOUR school to the elite status it so richly deserves. It ain't gonna happen. That ship sailed long ago when the P5 was created.

Take heart everybody. The REAL losers in all of realignment are the former Big East schools. None of the rest of us in G5 conferences really had anything to lose in the first place.

Which Big Least schools were the real losers in realignment?
1. Butters: Big 10
2. Spit and Cuse and Big Least newbie Ville: ACC
3. West Virginia: Big 12
All 5 won the lottery.
Temple, USF, Uconn and Cincy?
USF? FCS team with a few years of CUSA football.
Cincy? CUSA team.
Uconn? FBS start up until Big Least football promotion.
Temple? Middle of the pack MAC squad.
I say they are right where they belong in the AAC with their peers.

Cincy lost quite a bit. They went from a P5 team to a non P5 team. I guess its better than CUSA...but that's not saying much.

Ok, I'll say this. Cincinnati has been around forever. They've gotten the worst of it.

Temple, USF, UCONN, and Cincy all fell from being in the Big East into a G5 conference. And for one year, Houston, UCF, and Memphis played in the Big East before being shuffled back down into a conference with the likes of Tulane, ECU, and SMU in the AAC. That may be exactly where these seven schools now belong, but it doesn't change the fact that they fell further than anyone else in realignment.

You may consider ECU a "peer" of Houston, Memphis, USF, and UCONN, but all you have to do is read the AAC's message board to see how fans of those schools feel about being stuck in the AAC.

Yeah, when any AAC school gets the football attendance and P5 home games that we get then I will consider the schools you mentioned a peer to ECU. How about that? You do realize almost every school you mentioned played in the same conference with ECU from 97 until now right? Before CUSA, ECU was playing 6 or 7 current P5 schools per year as a major Indy. ECU was going to the Peach Bowl before UCF, USF and Uconn were Division 1A schools.

P.S ECU was invited to the AAC months after UCF, Memphis & Houston.

No one seems to have more animosity towards the Sun Belt than La. Tech fans. The other former members' fans don't seem to have any problems. FIU and FAU... I hardly come across any of their fans on message boards. MTSU and WKU fans seem respectful. North Texas fans moved up, in their minds, but their lack of winning has kept them grounded.

No, Kemosabe, it's absolutely true. After everyone in the Central Time Zone left the WAC and you were hemorrhaging money in travel costs, your peeps called the Belt to see what the possibilities were of rejoining the league. There wasn't anyone in the "Belch" that wanted any part of your administration's ego.

If CUSA hadn't called you might be in the Southland right now.

That cannot be right. I have it on good authority that they are a premier program.
