Sure about that, billymac?

He's technically played one full season at Stanford, and two at Florida, but played 2 games his soph season at Stanford before transferring mid-semester. He got a NCAA waiver to only sit out one semester at Florida. Unless he has applied for some other special waiver, he's used up his 4 years, unfortunately with only a 2 game sophomore year.

I think that tweet was probably trying to advertise for professional playing opportunities. Otherwise, my wild guess about the Austin Shaver twitter following was to bring him in as a grad assistant and let him work and practice with Knight, if we didn't secure another post player in 2017.

Unless, you know something we don't know, billymac, which would make us all very happy

Despite the loss of a year with the two games played early at Stanford there may be some possibility.
W&M should know soon.

He's used up his 4 playing years eligibility.

If he has some special waiver pending and transferred, Jack decided to stay allowing us to play two big men at once, and Marfo transferred, then we should all go play the lottery.

He is probably petitioning the NCAA to get that year of eligibility back. My thought is, if he is eligible, why W&M for one season? He would be in demand by any of the schools interested in Jack plus more. You would think he would pick a P5 landing spot that will challenge for a deep run. Don't get me wrong. I'd love to have him and he would serve as a great bridge until Marfo is eligible. I'm not getting ahead of myself with the Marfo talk am I?

Unrelated to Marfo, but has anyone checked out the highlights of new women's transfer Harper Birdsong? She is aggressive and her ability to penetrate is pretty impressive. I mean no offense by this statement , but I give her the highest compliment that I can give a women's basketball player- she plays like a guy.

He played a total of 6 minutes (3 minutes each game) his sophomore year at Stanford. It would be sad if that counted as a year of eligibility.

Have no idea why it would count. But i've heard that he has grow for 6-10' 245lbs to 6-11' 265lbs. One year with him would be huge.

Let's hope she's in Marfo's ear when he gets back to GW, since she does follow him on twitter!

Regarding Rimmer, NCAA explicitly states, even if it's only 2 minutes, it counts as a year used. If he did get a waiver, he could just as easily decide to stay at FL for grad school. I don't think Murphy got his waiver granted until late last summer when he was able to transfer to Northeastern. A late decision may work in our favor, if that's even the scenario.

This sorta feels like Alex Murphy who went from Duke to FL to Northeastern ... maybe this guy will go from Stanford to FL to W&M for us.

RE: 2017 CAA Basketball Transfers
Murphy and Rimmer are similar in that early during their sophomore season (5 games in for Murphy and 2 games in for Rimmer) they decided to transfer to Florida. The difference is that Rimmer was healthy for his senior season while Murphy played in only 3 games due to injury. Murphy's waiver I believe was to get a second medical redshirt season (he used his first when he missed the entire season due to a concussion his first year on Duke's campus) so in essence he was petitioning to get his senior year back, not his sophomore year when he transferred.
