Bill Cubit's new Gig
From Football Scoop:

"The former Western Michigan and Illinois head coach has been named head coach at Martin County (FL) High School. He went 30-6 with two district titles at the school as head coach from 1986-88."

Coach will have fun with that. I wish him much success.

Glad he remains active and involved in the lives of young people.

Thanks for posting!

I'm only assuming the HS is a stone's throw away from where he already has a home. Keeps him going on with his love of coaching, while knowing it's likely his final career stop and he won't have to move around the country again. To that end, it's a good fit.

Good for him.

And quite a "get" for that HS.

Congrats to Bill. He's a good man and should do well. Also should be a nice retirement gig for him.

Not a bad gig, coaching high school football in Florida. Too hot for my taste, but it should be a nice retirement for Coach Cubit. Wish him the best!

Great news... good for Bill... perfect career sunset... his wife might have been getting sick of seeing him too often and made him go find a job to keep him from pacing around the living room....

That was not a problem. Lots of golf courses in Florida.

RE: Bill Cubit's new Gig
Good for Coach Cubit. Regardless of what one thinks of his tenure at WMU, I think we all can agree that he deserves to go out on his own terms.

Sort of reminds me of when St. Joseph landed Elliot Uzelac. The circumstances were a bit different in that he was good friends with Ike Muhlenkamp, the retired former coach who was a legend there. The program had fallen on hard times in the years after Ike retired and he personally sought out Coach U and asked him to come help resurrect it.

Of course, that pales in comparison to Coach U's latest body of work at Benton Harbor, which is an even better story.

For the love of the game. I have no clue if Illinois is still paying for this gig and that may be why he is not doing the college thing, but for so many years he coached football, hard to get that out of your blood.

No it's not. Completely unnecessary.

And to be fair, Cubit shots should be taken at like 3 others before CD.
