How did he do that Fuente was NOT his hire. So how did he build the program?????? All he did was take credit for the work of others.

Fuente was a key. But there was a lot more to it than that.

Welp.

@Tom_Schad
Tom Bowen in an interview on Sports 56 yesterday: "I am not a candidate (at Boston College)." So there you go.

Possible Interpretation?: I applied but they are not considering me.

That's what Roar alluded to on twitter, that he wouldn't get it. This makes number what on failed interviews?

Yea Fred Smith getting pissed at Cal and opening the Fed Ex check book and Brad Martin bringing in previously untapped avenues of funding.

I hope Bowen finds another job. Maybe that's just me but I'm not a big fan of his at all.

I think Rudd keeps his hands tied. I Just don't like Rudd at all. I want a local guy to Rep our school.

He did what was most important and got the football program rolling. Football is were the money is and basketball is where the whining is. Memphis fans should be happy, get to watch good football and whine, perfect.

So football is now one of the 20 programs that are in the black. That is great.

How many times do you have to be told that it was Rudd that wanted Tubby, not Bowen.

It was Bowen who did not stand up to Orlando when he broke the agreement to keep Keelon on as bench coach.
People get fired every day. Papa got demoted a year ago, with I think a raise. Raises are usually a good thing.

Bowen made him a promise when he was prepared to leave last year. That he will be kept on as part of the actual coaching staff. Then stood by and did nothing as Orlando broke that promise and violated NCAA rules in doing so.

Even with the rule change that went in effect last year Lawson would have had to be a countable coach for TWO YEARS before being allowed to be demoted to administration position.

Can you be any more dramatic with all the broke an NCAA rule nonsense?

He didn't break a rule any more than we break a rule every time we play someone in their 6th year of eligibility. Both take an approved waiver to make happen. If the waiver isn't approved then daddy Lawson either keeps his coaching position or is paid to leave last year.

My understanding he switched him from assistant before that bylaw was implemented.

Look at the source, dude only knows how to turn left. Inevitably leading to going around in circles.
