I think Wichita State was a great add for the American. After all there us a long history between Memphis, Cincinnati , and Wichita State. I also think Saint Louis, Dayton or Virginia Commonwealth could be great basketball additions for the American. Your thoughts please.

I think so too. Of course, we will have those quality losses, until we get a coaching staff that is devoted to the return of Tiger basketball.

RE: Wichita State
Add Boise for football only, Gonzaga for basketball only, then Northern Illinois for both. Then you have 14 for each.

UConn, Cincy, Memphis, WSU, Temple, Tulsa, SMU, Houston, etc...yep...I'll take that hoops conference.
problem is that UConn, Memphis, Temple and Tulsa went a combined 66-63 last season...that's not gonna get it done going forward.

Good luck. It will come together for the American when you get team mix fixed. Ou have the potential to become the 6th Power Conference.

No, it's not.
The AAC didn't need another school - it could function fine as it was, and it did. And WSU didn't need the AAC - it has done fine where it's at and is a possible top 10 program next year.
This match was made because it actually MADE THE CONFERENCE BETTER, not because we were desperate. What a concept. Hope the Shockers are happy in the new conference and I hope they make things more interesting for everybody.

To the OP's question, I'm all for WSU & would add two more BB schools from St Louis, Dayton, VCU or even Gonzaga if they wanted a stronger conference affiliation (not practical, but good BB).

RE: Wichita State
Personally, I'd like a conference with
Memphis
Louisville
Cincinnati
Southern Miss
South Carolina
Florida State
Virginia Tech
Tulane
Imagine if everyone had just stuck together. That would've been a pretty strong conference.

Absolutely correct. Nothing the same.
