I wonder if it is significant that they made the official announcement with only Perry signing. Usually UAB waits to make an official announcement once everyone has signed. Does this mean that we are holding the final spotfor a grad transfer or a very late signing.

Or no one else wants to come to UAB yet.

With the announcement coming after only one signee, that was my guess as well.

A 1 year grad player would be the 4th senior on the team with Sullivan having taken a RS.

Makes more sense now for a grad transfer.

Ehsan has said in previous interviews he wasn't a fan of the grad transfer. I'd bet it's a traditional transfer that sits out next season which means no additional help down low for the upcoming season. Just my speculation.

Not being a fan of something doesn't necessarily mean you won't utilize it if it helps you meet objectives. Gene Bartow wasn't a fan of the three point shot, but he made use of it.

What about a redshirt for Smallwood? Give him some extra opportunity to develop with less pressure and even the classes out some more.

I think Smallwood isn't eligible to redshirt due to him only having 3 years to get in 3 years of play (or something like that).

Correct. Smallwood was only given 4 years to play 4, unlike others who are given 5 years to play 4.

Gotcha. That's too bad.

I think it's because of the league he played in in Europe...
