GP is an idiot
He just said on Caulkins that when Dedric wakes up in 2 years and is the best player averaging a double double on a final four contender in line for a championship, and national player of the year awards, he won't be wishing he didn't do this.

Well, Kansas has had 15 underclassmen and 5 seniors drafted in the NBA in the last 10 years. That's 2 NBA draft picks per year. Why would that change now?

Dedric, after his pre-freshman (freshman) year couldn't get a look from any NBA team in the draft. After his amazing double-double season this year, he still can't get a sniff from the NBA or that is where he would be going.

So Gary thinks sitting out a year and suiting up for a top 5 team is going to make him a superstar, that's crazy. He also thinks KJ will be an important part of the 2018-19 Jayhawks. LOL

If these 2 top future Kansas players couldn't get Memphis into the NIT in 2 years, how in the world does he think Dedric will be the best player at Kansas and KJ will be a significant role player? It is more likely that they end up never playing at Kansas or that he comes off the bench.

Self has been and will be recruiting his position for the next 2 years, forget about KJ. Self will most likely get somebody that will start in front of Dedric. Possibly little brother.

Please do not call someone else an idiot if you cannot wrap your mind around the fact that someone can be a great (All-American level) player in college without being an elite pro prospect...

Dedric was fantastic against the better teams on our schedule and was conference player of the year. KJ was conference ROY. They will both see lots of minutes at Kansas. I agree they struggled making average college players better. However, at Kansas they will be surrounded by elite college players and will not have to do that. They will both be getting minutes on a title contending team in their future.

Actually, he probably pretty close to the truth.

What he said was that Dedric will likely be the best player on that team in 2018-19.

That team will likely be top-5 throughout the year and (if history is any indicator) will likely be the Big 12 champ.

The best player on a top 5 team and conference champ is usually one of the finalists for Naismith POY and is usually a 1st team AA.

And, generally, the best player on a Top 5 team is a first round pick.

It is a simple matter of logic and understanding Dedric's skills.

That is hard for some to wrap their heads around. They will be around better players. They will do quite well. When they came here they thought that would be playing with King, Nichols, Woodson, etc., and that didn't happen. Their success at Kansas will not shock me in the least.

I'm getting eternally tired of dipshtts making that same dumb argument over and over.

How many NBA guys on the rosters of the last 5 Final Fours? I'm sure plenty, but also a TON of guys who weren't.

RE: GP is an idiot
Unfortunately, I don't disagree with Parrish on this. Well, maybe not national player of the year, but I do think he has a chance to play in the NBA. He's still very young and should have improved skills and strength in two years.

I always thought he'd be an incredible 4 year guy. Just not a one and done player.

Anyway, that ship has sailed, and Memphis basketball will be just fine. I only wish they'd worked as hard recruiting early in the season as they are now.

Tubby isn't going anywhere, at least for awhile. His buyout is way too high. I'm going to give the man a chance. Let's see if he can repair relationships in the area, or get good players elsewhere. I think he has two more years tops to get this thing turned around. Tubby is a proud man, I know he doesn't want to go out on a bad note.

No. He's the next Tim Duncan. It has to be true. I read it here.

Lets not forget that KJ was still in his first year of playing college basketball and he was getting 12 and 8.
Our beloved heart and effort guy, Antonio Anderson, was getting 7 and 3 his first year. CDR 8 and 3 his first year. Joey Dorsey 4 and 6. Kelly Wise 6 and 5. DJ Stephens 2 and 2. Rodney Carney 10 and 5. I could keep going....
Dedric was a sophomore (who graduated high school a year early) and had a historic season that has only been matched by some guy named Tim Duncan over the last 25 years.
