Oklahoma sooner LB transferring for his senior year. Was originally committed to JMU out of HS, but did not have the test scores. Went the JUCO route and got an offer from Oklahoma. Now wants to transfer and play this fall. Hmmmmmmm?05-stirthepot

RE: Kapri Doucet
With the possible addition of the UVA LB/DE transferring to JMU in the fall I imagine we do not have any more spots available unless other players transfer out after spring ball.

Did he go to Lackawanna same time as Schor? And he's from VA? And he committed to JMU in the past? Seems like a legit possibility. 05-stirthepot05-stirthepot05-stirthepot

Apparently the Bruton grad had a lot of big time offers out of Lackawanna. Originally committed to AZ:

Was on the 2 deep for OU, starting 4 games last year. Figured to be on OU's 2 deep this season:

He'd be nice, but I'd rather find a P5 O-line or DT transfer. Feel it's an area of more need.

Houston was quoted by Greg Madia saying we will take "two or three transfers this summer" so it is possible Doucet could transfer to JMU given his familiarity to the school.

RE: Kapri Doucet
my apologies if this has been posted. in an interview with Dave Thomas, Houston said:

"we had a significant power 5 transfer here today, that i cannot comment on. but i will tell you this, he's going to be a JMU Duke. he committed to me today, he will be here for the fall, and i promise you he is a difference maker."

italicized "significant" because Houston really emphasized the word. could it be Kapri? regardless of who it is, Houston sounds really pumped about the guy.

if it's Kapri, I'm not sure how he can be a difference maker. Not that he wouldn't be good, it's just that LB is not a position of need. I feel we are stacked there already.

Now if it is a stud pass rushing DE, then, WHOA NELLIE ! this defense that is already loaded, might damn well be impenetrable.

Going by known entities (by looking at who's returning off of last years 2 deep) I would say LB & inside DL would be the 2 spots on defense where could most use a transfer. I wouldn't say are stacked at LB, esp for the 1st half? (until Hereford returns from suspension) of the season..

At the 3 LB spots, going by the YSU game notes, which listed the # of starts for each player heading into the NC game, and adding Steele's, Holloway's and Wellon's NC game starts:
2 ILB spots
Steele, 12 starts, graduates
Holloway, 9 starts, returns
Hereford, 6 starts, returns but suspended until ??

1 OLB spot:
Hawkins, 8 starts, returns
Wellons, 6 starts, graduates

That means for next season at the start of the season, and maybe until sometime in Oct, only 2 of the 5 LBs from last year that did all of the starts at the 3 positions will be available in Holloway and Hawkins. For the six 2 deep LB spots available in Sept:
-Holloway (inside)
-Hawkins (outside or inside)
-MD transfer Gus Little (inside), although not playing exp at MD, appears to be a lock for a 2 deep position and maybe a starter.

-Hereford makes a 4th when he comes off suspension in week ??.
After that its new faces. I know there are a bunch of other guys we either didn't see last year (true fr redshirts) or didn't see much of, a couple of whom have been mentioned in the Spring. There's a decent chance if it is Doucet he could very well end up better than anyone JMU currently has.

As far as de you mentioned, by my count 4 of the top 5 DE returns from last season. At DE have 2 studs in returning starters Ankrah & Carter, + returning 2 deepers in Ezeagwu and Daka (who played as a true Fr). Did lose Brandon Brown (6 starts). Not sure why, as he was suppose to be a rSr..

At DL return both starters in Urquhart (15 starts) & Robinson (10 starts). Lose Stone (5) starts). Those 3 guys (+ I think Brown played some inside) were the overwhelming bulk of the playing time. Rogers is back, who played as a true Fr in a 1/2 doz games. Gonna be a new face or 2 in there.

Kapri could slide down to DE. Also, Landan Word from UVA is reportedly interested in transferring to JMU per the Roanoke Times beat writer Doug Daughtey. Word who started two games as a true freshman is listed at 6-5 245 could also play DE for us.

A starter at UVA, is less than or equal to a starter at JMU.

Perhaps but Landan Word was a rather highly regarded recruit coming out of HS. Maybe he just wanted to stay in the area and play for a winner.

Last year that was certainly the case

Yesterday Kapri tweeted about how he should just go to a HBCU, but deleted the tweet. Said he was tired of the politics of D1.

There is also Tre Hubbard Inside linebacker from VT that announced he will be transferring. Was a walk on last year that saw limited time mostly on Special Teams
