Denver Pioneers won in men's hockey against Minnesota-Duluth
The final score is Denver 3 and Minnesota-Duluth 2. Jarid Lukosevicius with a hat trick, the first since his coach Jim Montgomery did it for Maine in 1993.

The game was played at the United Center in Chicago.

Denver tends to win their championships in pairs. They won in

1958
1960, 1961
1968, 1969
2004, 2005
2017

If they win in 2018, they would tie Michigan for most DI hockey championships with 9. Most of Michigan's championships were from the 1950s though.

They very well could be favored for next year too, but they do lose a lot of seniors and some underclassmen could sign with the NHL. But their program just seems to reload. Montgomery is a great coach.

Any word on that defensemans ankle? Look like it bent 90 degrees the way you don't want it to (I've done it twice in the past 3 years, luckily I didn't actually break anything).

From what I've found, it's likely that it looked worse than what it really was. The articles didn't specify either a dislocation or a break. It was awesome to see him back on the ice for the celebration. Hammond's injury last night was definitely cringe-worthy and reminded me of Krumrie's broken ankle is the Super Bowl 18 years ago, the most cringe-worthy injury I've seen.

Glad it didn't break but I've definitely been in his spot before playing basketball and wrestling my Air Force buddy (someone always seems to come down on the side of my ankle), it hurts, I saw the replay and felt the pain when that ankle turned.

Denver's coach is now on the Florida Panthers list for a new head coach. The only recent NHL team that took a college coach was the Philadelphia Flyers, who took UND'S coach, and that turned out.

I have a soft spot for Denver. A national championship in hockey and Final Four appearance in men's soccer. That's a good year and they still have lacrosse ongoing.

Denver mlax is currently rated 5th. The Pio's don't skimp on any sport, and that is not common for a non-P5 U. Their mbb and wbb hasn't found the range however, even though they have sunk some big money behind them. It is what is keeping them from a better conference.

DU is consistently at the top of the Learfield ratings for non-football D1 schools.

I applied to law school there in late 1982 and got accepted, but ended up at LSU Law School instead because of cheaper out of state tuition at the latter (oil boom days, then).

I attended a continuing legal education class there a few years ago. I figured then that I had made a big, big mistake rejecting Colorado for Louisiana.......

That and geography. Don't think the WCC is interested, and that pretty much leaves the MWC.
