Divisions for Basketball?
Playing 18 games with 7 home and homes and 4 singles is perfect for divisional play.
You'd play your division home and home, and 2 home and homes from the other division (with 4 singles).
So you'd cycle through the entire league home and home every 3 years.
So, does Wichita replace Navy in the West, and we try to start creating some cross-sport divisional rivalries?
Or you could strategically place the 6 best teams together in one division if you wanted to increase the number of attractive matchups for TV.
Either way, UConn is not going to be happy. They would either be in the East with teams they look down on (UCF, USF and East Carolina), or they would be in the "Bottom 6" division next year and hate their schedule, or they would be in the "Top 6" division and get their asses kicked.

NO, it would be pointless for us to bring in WSU to play UCF, USF, and ECU twice a year.

Also, I assume baseball stays and 24 games, and everyone simply plays each other once. Any confirmation?

Wichita wouid play
SMU twice
Houston twice
Tulsa twice
Memphis twice
Tulane twice
and probably two of Cincy, UConn, Temple or UCF twice.
That's 6 of 7 home and homes against strong competition.

I suspect ESPN will determine what teams play each other twice any given year. Eyes on TV's will determine the extra h/h games.
After ESPN says which teams they want to see play each other twice, then the league just works something out to give everybody 18 games.

I just hope we play Wichita State, Cincy, SMU, Memphis, and Temple twice every year.

You could also break the conference down into groups of 4.
For example:
UConn
Temple
Cincy
Memphis
Wichita
Tulsa
SMU
Houston
Tulane
ECU
UCF
USF
Each group plays each other home and home, and plays 2 teams from the other 2 groups home and home.
This way, you play the entire conference home and home every 2 years.

If you are ESPN, wouldn't you want to televise every one of those games? I think that will happen. To maximize TV revenues, the top teams in the league all play each other twice every year. That will also minimize exposure to the bad rpi games that don't benefit teams getting ready for the NCAA tourney.
I don't like to say it, but money trumps fairness in today's world of college athletics.

I haven't seen any confirmation, but it makes perfect sense.
