RE: The Conference Welcomes Wichita State!
Adding WSU bolsters the top of the conference by adding a quality opponent for the west that will bleed to the east and raise everyone's RPI.
Not mention the nice rivalries that are there with Tulsa and will develop with SMU, Memphis, and Houston that will bolster attendance, especially at Tulsa and Houston.
The AAC should easily be a 4 bid conference next year with WSU, Cincy, SMU, and likely UConn with possibilities with Houston, UCF, and Tulsa.
The higher conference and team RPI's should result in better seeding thus more NCAA wins plus the level of conference competition will certainly better prepare our teams for the NCAA's. We just need to get officiating that is equal to the ACC and B12 and get these AAC guys to stop competing for who can call the most fouls in a game.
Next year is going to exciting for AAC basketball!
Welcome to the AAC WSU!!!

Ten years ago, I would agree with you. However, the AAC is still on the outside looking in, and the game is fixed on behalf of the Power 5 (plus the OBE in Ball).
If the league can garner 3 bids every year, 4 bids somewhat frequently, and 5 bids on a great year, doesn't that seem like a reasonable and obtainable cycle?
AAC bids by year (inclusion of Wichita St)
2014-
Cincinnati
Memphis
UConn
(Wichita St)
(Louisville)*
2015-
Cincinnati
SMU
(Wichita St)
2016-
Cincinnati
Tulsa
Temple
UConn
(Wichita St)
2017-
Cincinnati
SMU
(Wichita St)
noting that smu was the official first team out in 2014, and temple the official first team out in 2015
meaning with different committee members they could have made arguments to be in
Those are some great points, but there's also one problem which affects not just the AAC but all major basketball leagues: now that WSU is gone, someone else has to get the automatic bid for the MVC. So in a way this move could reduce the total number of available at-large spots by one.

RE: The Conference Welcomes Wichita State!
I am stoked with the move to the AAC! I look forward to continuing the old rivalries with Tujlsa, Cincy, and Memphis and establishing new ones with our new conference brethren. It is actually nice to be wanted in a conference. That hasn't seemed to be the case over the past several years.
I would expect the AAC to be a 3 bid team each year at the minimum. 4 should be common with 5 even likely during good years.
I look forward to the great games we are going to see in the coming years!

Just the mindset of the MVC vs AAC. That is why this is a good fit. WSU thinks and feels the same as most in the AAC in terms of commitment..Etc.
MVC teams got sick of us, and I can understand that. It's sad when teams at the beginning are just hoping they can get 2nd place. They didn't want us because they wanted a better chance. It is sad, because they should want to improve to be able to beat WSU. Instead they just want us out of the way.
That's their mindset. Don't be fully committed to improving, just hope WSU leaves so their chance goes up to get in the tourney. Typical one bid league mindset. How far the Valley has fallen :(
