AAC unanimously votes to add Wichita State for 2017-18 season, sources told @ESPN. Official announcement expected at noon ET

Now the question is: how many AAC teams will make March Madness in 2018??

2016: 4 teams (UConn, Temple, Cincy, Tulsa (FF))
2017: 2 teams (SMU, Cincy)

2018: ??? (Wichita, ..... )

It could be 5 teams. Don't forget that in 2016 SMU made themselves ineligible for post season play.

Summarizing the pulse of the teams in the conference, I'd say WSU and Cinci are locks, SMU likely, and then one of UCF / Houston / Tulsa. Memphis unlikely, UConn unlikely, Temple 50/50 to be added to that group of 3 on the bubble.

No football for Wichita State, for now.

Wichta should start up FCS football.

That way they can trasition to AAC if they lose a school, IMO.

I know its a "Shocker", as in "shocking wheat". But what is that guy actually supposed to be?? I can see him chewing on a piece of wheat, and four pieces of wheat sticking out of his head. But ... what is the actual guy??? Is he supposed to be a piece of wheat? Is he supposed to be a corn cob?

Glad you will have another team to cheer for because I thought the 12 you currently have weren't enough

This was the major point, right? To prevent UConn from playing the bottom four teams in the league twice?

AAC should maximize the benefit of adding WSU by scheduling its top teams to play each other twice and play four teams from the bottom of the league only once. Don't have basketball divisions, but create two groups for scheduling purposes.

Group A is WSU plus the top 5 teams from this year's AAC standings. Group B, obviously, is the other 6 teams.

Each team plays each other member of its own group twice, plays 2 of the 6 teams in the other group twice, and plays the rest of the other group once, for 18 conference games.
