RE: Big West Rejects UC San Diego
You're right on Pomona, they put it under "shop" --> "emblematic clothing", every other CSU else has an apparel section and a search link to that. Go figure.

Yes UC Berkeley. Forgot to put it there. UCB is used by others in the system, but not "Cal." That is three letters and does the trick, I should drop UCB moniker.

Note: Dominguez Hills goes a lot by DH with much of it's apparel.

Note: another confusing point on Long Beach State, they refer to the Baseball team as the "Dirtbaggers", so some apparel says "Dirtbag" or "Dirtbag Nation". Also like Dominguez Hills, baseball caps just have LB on them. There is some "Cal State Long Beach" apparel, and that is what I mean about the rebranding being attempted.

Yeah, rebrands are messy. I think one of the more successful ones might be Fresno State. Even though they are officially California State University, Fresno, they made a concerted effort to switch everything over to Fresno State, both athletics and otherwise.

When I was in college they made an effort to stop selling FSU stuff. ESPN has FS on the score board in the right corner during games. Almost all of our shirts say Fresno St. the only ones I see w/ Cal State Fresno are the ones w/ the official seal on it.

Bezerkely and those epitaphs thrown at UCI are not acceptable, just "fun" we poke at each other. Ignore Bill Walton his mind is still stuck in the 1960s (50 years ago!).

UC Branding:

Berkeley = California / Cal (Cal), also Berkeley, Cal Berkeley, and most prominent UC Berkeley
Davis = UC Davis (UCD)
Irvine = UC Irvine, UCI (UCI)
Los Angeles = UCLA (UCLA) -- never LA or Los Angeles, just UCLA
Merced = UC Merced (UCM) -- heavy emphasis on UC
San Diego = UCSD, UC San Diego (UCSD) ... almost everything says UCSD
San Francisco = UCSF (no sports, so UCSF just for Med School)
Santa Barbara = UC Santa Barbara (UCSB)
Santa Cruz = UC Santa Cruz (UCSC)

No California in name of these CSU system schools:

Humboldt State (HSU)
San Diego State (SDSU)
San Jose State (SJSU, SJS, San Jose)
San Francisco State (SFSU, branding is "SF State")
Sonoma State (SSU)

California State Universities (CSU), who brand without California:

Chico (Chico State, Chico)
Fresno (Fresno State)
Stanislaus (Stan State, Stanislaus)
Sacramento (Sacramento State, Sac State ... CSUS not used)

CSU who brand Cal State (note where initials emphasized in brand):

CSU Bakersfield (CSUN) -- note CSU not Cal State
CSU Channel Islands, CI (CI) -- note CSU not Cal State

Cal State East Bay, CSUEB (CSUEB)
Cal State Monterey Bay, CSUMB (CSUMB)
Cal State Northridge, CSUN (CSUN)

Cal State Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) much apparel simply says DH
Cal State Fullerton (CSUF)
Cal State LA (Los Angeles >95% of the time is LA)
Cal State San Bernadino (CSUSB)
Cal State San Marcos (CSUSM)

Long Beach has become hard to figure out (too many brands):

Long Beach administration seems to be trying shifting from "Long Beach State" to CSULB, with increased emphasis on California State, but >95% of apparel is "the Beach" or "Long Beach State". "Cal State Long Beach" is not catching on, but some gear says CSULB. The LB standing alone is used a lot, much like Channel Islands with CI and Dominguez Hills with DH

California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo
--> simply "Cal Poly"
California State Polytechnic University, Pomona
--> Cal Poly Pomona (CPP)

Pomona didn't have any apparel available. Weird

You forgot about the football branding for some of the schools. For some weird reasons, the schools went by Heyward State now Cal. State - East Bay, Northridge State, Fullerton State, Los Angeles State, and San Bernardino State. I think the reason is people asked why so many schools are known as California State. Back in those days for national coverage, since football have been televised nationwide including D2 games, The schools went by the city and the State at the end. Plus, it rolls better off the tongue that way for broadcasting instead of saying California State Vs. California State.
