Pickney is back? I thought he left the team for one reason or another.

Never understood moving him to CB. Kid was a good WR in HS. Wasted a couple years being buried on the DB depth chart.

I actually liked him for being a frosh CB in 2015 and wished he would have gotten more PT there. I never heard exactly what happened to him, but it looks like he didn't play at all in 2016 if he was even with the team per his profile here. Oddly, he still doesn't appear on the current gobearcats roster either. Anyway, glad to hear he's back on the team.

IF (and granted it's a big IF) he could have developed into a player at CB, with his size and athleticism JJ could become a prototype NFL CB imo. As far as depth chart goes, he'd have been stuck even deeper on the depth chart at WR back in 2015 when he last played. But our needs have changed and maybe this staff sees something in him that the last one didn't, good (e.g. maybe he can actually catch the ball) or bad (e.g. insufficient coverage skills).

From what I understand, he got hurt early in camp last August and was never able to work his way back enough to contribute. He did leave the team for a while but was able to get back on board with the new staff. They thought he wasn't physical enough to play press coverage as a corner and moved him to receiver. I happened to be near the the corner of the end zone where he made the TD reception last night. It was impressive.

So if Gibson is not able to take the starting QB position we are in for a down year on offense?

If you're basing that off the spring game--relax, it's still wayyyyy too early.

But if you're basing it off what we saw last season--well, then, yeah.

Good crowd considering:

Reds Game
Kings Island Special Event
People praying the steps
Local fish fry's
Most students gone

Saturday might have been better for attendance but wait, Lindner Futbal Cincinnati likely has priority.

I am basing it off what I have seen from both Moore and Trail last year, and the reports on the Spring where it seems neither has shown much improvement.

Appears the qb race could potentially get another candidate

Former 4-star, pro style QB. Interesting that he was at our spring game. Nice find.

I won't fault any student for no showing an exhibition game.

I also don't care if it's a hot take, but spring games are dumb.

Agreed. It's a nice event, but everytime I hear about how many people show up to OSU's spring game, I cringe. It's lame.

I've been to exactly one in Kelly's second year. That was enough for me. I'd rather go watch a real practice.

Poor attendance? Highest attended UC Spring Game.

Great night weather wise. Fans near us were excited and positive. Team is a work in progress. For those who didn't come for some oddda reason you missed a great event.

i was basing my post on a handful of earlier posts that seemed to indicate that attendance was poor. i'm glad i was wrong.

In the course of reading up a bit about him I saw that UL had 14K at their Saturday afternoon spring game which continues a downward trend for them. Not trying to make a point, just an fyi.
