How Should the Average Fan Protest Tubby?
The stormy tenure of Tubby increases intensity with each passing day and fan discontent mounts. The concerns of deep pocketed boosters are given serious consideration by the U of M AD and President. They have a voice, but what means may the devoted fans of relatively modest means employ?

I see the following options:

1. Cease buying season tickets,
2. Stop attending games,
3. Cut back or end TSF contributions,
4. Express concerns with U of M AD and President,
5. Combination thereof.

What option(s) do you choose?

Good Tiger fans may differ, but I will continue buying season tickets, attend games, and making TSF contributions (I actually increased the amount this year). I am pondering my respond to the U of M brass, if any.

How long before this really happens? I'm betting next April if we're below .500.

I understand, but I am reluctant to withhold support. IMO, it is akin to "destroying the village in order to save it". I admit I am beginning to question my stance

We are seriously considering dropping our basketball tix, but still maintaining our TSF donation at the same level.

Of course, we've considered that in the past & haven't done it, but...

I just wont go to games. When we get better, maybe I'll come back. Maybe I won't. Depends what else I find to spend my money on in the meantime.

Just move financial support from the basketball program and give it to the football program. You can always designate donations to only be used for specific purposes or sports. Write an email to Bowen letting him know what you are planning on doing and why you are doing it.

Why would the average fan protest Tubby? I would say the average fan wants Tubby to do well here.

Actually, I don't know why any fan would protest Tubby. It's too early for that. Way too early.

His first year was a complete and utter waste.

He's going to have to start all over again.

Anyone who was even mildly swayed by his first couple of months of the season is now sickened by the last two months.

Uphill climb for the Tubster.

Time will tell.

RE: How Should the Average Fan Protest Tubby?
Me, as a fan of Tiger basketball, wish no ill will towards any Memphis coach. Folks wanted change, we got it. Now, everyone is still complaining. Nothing has changed. We need players that want to be here. Does Tubby have his flaws, sure. Do the players have their flaws? Absolutely.

At the end of the day, the product on the court should matter but one that is a Tiger fan should also stick with their program thru the tough times. If you don't want to go to the games, then by all means, don't.

Ousting another coach isn't going to help matters.

Ousting a coach that doesn't want to work will help. Tubby doesn't want to work. He doesn't want to recruit. He just wants a check. There are plenty of coaches that would work for under 1million that would come here and work their tail off. Steve Forbes being one.

That should be the AD then. Why isn't anyone calling for Bowen's head and/or the President of the University? Tubby is a direct report of the AD. AD is a direct report of the President. Folks need to be held accountable if what you are stating is true ... all I have seen is media reports and well, I don't take them all that seriously as some of their stuff is blown out of proportion.

ALL depends on the 2018 recruiting class......

If Tubby muffs a third straight class he'd be dumb to stay and take what would be coming his way.
