There is a thread on the gomeangreen site stating that an announcement regarding the building of a new Indoor Practice Facility will be made within the next few days.

Early reports are that the current athletic center will be renovated, expanded, and connected to the new building. The IPF will contain a 120 yard field and house athletic offices. I believe the building will be situated so it is visible from Apogee stadium. I'll post renderings and a full story as soon as the official announcement happens, and they become available.

Congrats to UNT for taking this step.

I'd be interested to see what UNT's final $$-amount comes to for this project. When Clemson built their IPF about 3-4 yrs. ago, the bottom line was almost exactly $10m. Whether that # was genuine or just contrived for the media, I have no idea. But officially it was virtually $10m on the nose.

The new leadership at UNT seems to doing what's needed. Hopefully this happens for you.

When the project was first mentioned, our AD Baker was talking about building just a field and restrooms for around $10-$12 million. Since then they are looking to house offices there and have it connect to the athletic center, and build it with a nice view of Apogee Stadium. That would make sense, because I've heard that the university is offering the athletic department matching funds to get this project built. That would give us a budget that could be around $20 million or maybe even a little more. That would build North Texas an IPF nicer then many P5 programs. I don't know if that price will be the final number, but it appears to be what we are working with right now.

I'd sure like to see some renderings.

I was at Arkansas State recently to do some business and had the opportunity to see their indoor practice facility. It was really nice. Good for UNT on getting one. I am sure it will be very nice.

The thought is that an official announcement could be made at the final spring practice this Saturday.

I was thinking the same thing.

I think they will play a CGI video of the design on the video board at this Saturday's Spring Game. Can't wait to get back to Apogee on Saturday.

The really nice IPF's can simulate certain game conditions like crowd noise. I'm sure they can raise the temp. but probably can't match the humidity of a place like MMR in September
