Looking forward to the series with Southern Miss. Should be a great one. FIU has been playing better lately.

Dropped 9 spots in rpi like it was nothing. Thank God it was uva on one of those losses or it would be a lot worse

I was glad to see you get the split in Starkville even though I wish you would've gotten the sweep. Should be great weather for the most part....a little cool on Friday night with temps in low 60s but Saturday and Sunday are both mid 70s with no rain projected.

The loser of the LA Tech vs. Rice series is essentially eliminated from conference tournament contention IMO. Who'd a thunk that before the season!?

RE: 4/7 - 4/9 CUSA baseball weekend action
My .02 cents storylines for this weekends games:

FIU (5-4) at USM (8-1):
USM looks to continue its winning ways at home (15-2 this year, 28-4 last year) as well as keep its grip on 1st place. FIU looks to build off its 2-1 series win at Rice two weeks ago as well as its midweek split at #22 Mississippi St.

FAU (7-2) at Charlotte (5-4):
FAU tries to stay near the top spot as they've won 5 of their last 6 games but they have gone 3-3 in road games this season. Charlotte tries to get back on track to its early season success as they've lost 4 of their last 5 while only scoring 5 runs in it's last 4 games.

ODU (7-2) at MT (3-6)
ODU looks to keep pace with FAU and USM at the top but must fix it's pitching woes as it gave up 17 and 18 runs in its 2 midweek games. MT comes into the series winning 6 of its last 8 overall games after they started CUSA with a 1-5 record

WKU (3-6) at UTSA (4-5)
WKU goes to UTSA having won 2 of 3 at MT two weeks ago but that was sandwiched around a 1-5 home CUSA start. UTSA beat Baylor who had a top 10 RPI last week and won 2 of 3 at La Tech last weekend but then turned around and lost back to back home games to teams with RPI over 200.

Marshall (4-5) at UAB (4-5)
Marshall has gone 3-7 in its last 10 games and its pitching allowed 5 or more runs in 9 of those. UAB has gone 1-6 in its last 7 and it too has allowed 5 or more runs in all 7 of those. This has the makings of a high scoring weekend IMO.

(63) La Tech (2-7) at (88) Rice (2-7)
La Tech goes to Rice in what was thought to be one of the premier CUSA weekend matchups during the preseason. The losing team in this series, especially in the event of a sweep, could see their CUSA tournament hopes eliminated. La Tech has gone 4-6 in its last 10. Just like La Tech, Rice too has gone 4-6 in its last 10.

We need to obliterate FIU. Payback for last year.

As a LA Tech fan, I'm not optimistic. Our Diamond Dawgs have been in a free fall for the last 3 weeks. Something tells me this weekend will likely put us out of our misery.

You don't realize how bad Rice is this year. I think our assistant coaches are putting on an elaborate Weekend-at-Bernies routine so they can keep collecting a paycheck.

Lamb advances to 3rd on a wild pitch and gets sacrificed home by Kurt Sinnen. ODU 9, MT 8 in the ninth.
