RE: Changes to MWC media revenue distribution
Beat me to it.

What needs verification is if BSU only gets $1.8 million and the rest $1.1 million or is the 1.1 added to BSU guarantee

RE: Changes to MWC media revenue distribution
Quote:Now, Boise State’s membership agreement and its ESPN deal were honored, meaning the school gets $1.8 million up front annually. That’s the average bonus payout Boise State got from 2013-15 under the contract it agreed to when deciding to stay in the Mountain West. The remaining revenue will be divided among the 11 football-playing schools outside Hawaii, worth approximately $1.1 million per year, meaning a total of $2.9 million for Boise State.

The link only showed Boise's. If they are first at 2.9 total, Who's second and how much behind Boise are they? Love to see the whole list.

RE: Changes to MWC media revenue distribution
looks like the article indicates the other 10 teams would be at 1.1 million per year.

MWC tv revenue

That doesn't seem to add up to 20 million.

1.8 million extra for Boise
Nothing for Hawaii who is on a separate TV deal
1.1 for all 11 schools.

11 x 1.1 = 12.1 million
plus the extra 1.8 for Boise= 13.9 million.

I thought they got 20 million a year. Either there is more money somewhere or they aren't getting what we thought.

RE: Changes to MWC media revenue distribution
The formula is based on TV appearances and selections for national broadcast. Every school gets some bonus in there.

The way to look at it is $12.2m in base distributions, $7.8m in bonuses. When Boise State plays San Jose State or New Mexico on a broadcast game, both Boise State and their MWC opponent gain the bonus. Boise did not play in the CCG this last year which is one of the bigger bonuses, and that may explain the lower number for them. So it's not all formula lowering Boise's take.

Plus, the extra home game money that is separate from the MWC that Boise State gets with their own separate contract with ESPN. The MWC bonus for Boise State being on TV happens to be away games. If you noticed, the bonuses happens to be when an opponent plays Boise State which shows Boise State is much more valuable than the rest of the MWC. It is a bonus that the Big 12 turned their nose up at by not expanding to include Boise State.

Can we get a breakdown of the bonus money? Yeah they all get a 1.1 million base but what did the others get in bonus money payouts? I'm curious to see who's number 2 behind Boise

MWC tv revenue

I've been googling this. There is nothing but the article in the Idaho paper saying something like "based on the new MWC revenue plan Boise is PROJECTED to get ____. And then a light blue link that says "Boise got 2.4 million in bonus money in 2016."--click on it and it's simply another article with no info, click bait....There are no numbers released yet.

The other 10 football playing schools are tied for number 2 at 1.1 million each. BSU gets 1.8 off the top and also gets a 1.1 million share like the others. No more bonus money.

It says in the article that's the new rule for 2017. It never says what the bonus money was for 2016 except that Boise received 2.4 million in bonus money. I read the article.

RE: Changes to MWC media revenue distribution
Ok. I think I got it.

We get $12 million from CBS which is the $1.1 million each (11 schools).
ESPN gives us $6 million. So of this 6 million, Boise St. gets $1.8 with the rest of the 4.2 million split 10 ways for the rest giving $420k for each school. This is the only way I can make the math work.

So BSU gets $2.9 million total and others get $1.5 million.

Going forward this year yes. But those rules aren't retroactive are they? What was the breakdown in 2016? I remember going over the breakdown in 2015 or 2014 and seeing UNLV received $0 in bonus money. It was a big discussion
