RE: Retirement
It could be John Daly or JL. My guess is Daly.

RE: Retirement
It wouldn't be like JL to retire mid spring practice. But where are you getting this info from?

RE: Retirement
I'm guessing Reveley. He's looking old and trembling a little bit. The fact that he couldn't pronounce the new AD's name properly told me either a) he's losing it, b) he didn't care enough to research it, or c) he really didn't care. He's already 74 years old

RE: Retirement
Sorry. This response is straddling the off sports topic realm.

I will be disappointed if it's Reveley due to the timing. There has been recent social media chatter about BLM students issuing demands on the college and filming their interactions with the president. Reveley, IMO, did a great job of deflecting their aggressive stance. He seemed open to hearing their gripes, but refused to be bullied. If he retires, for whatever reason, it will be used as propaganda that the BLM movement was correct and got this "out of touch" president from a "privileged" University to resign. I truly hope that is not what happens.

RE: Retirement
Okay,
if it isn't supposed to be anything except sports, I'm going to guess Bobby Dwyer. New boss with fund raising as her core competency, maybe she makes a switch

RE: Retirement
Bobby Dwyer? I said "big" announcement. And Dwyer works like he's been retired since 1993.

Eh, I think this is a tough sell. 99% of people are probably unaware that even happened and won't make a connection. Just because a bunch of students yell about it doesn't mean anyone will listen.

Not to continue to sidetrack, but to defuse the Reveley issue, this is not just an issue William and Mary is grappling with. There is the same activism and debate going on at most public universities/colleges across the country. There is a wide spectrum of where schools are at in addressing and implementing programs.

The dialog and actions appear to be progressing, and I trust William and Mary will get there in these programs.
No date on this article (sounds like a year old based on budget statement), but supports that President Reveley is acting on it.

His contract was previously extended to June/2018, at which time he will be 75. He has served the College greatly, and I think it is safe to assume he will start his natural and deserved retirement at that time.

I hear you. But this small segment is very vocal with ears wide open looking for anything to move along their agenda. The incident might go unnoticed by the masses, but it is exactly the kind of softball these groups are looking for.

RE: Retirement
I completely agree that it is an important challenge facing the University and will continue to need to be addressed. My only point was that the timing of a Reveley retirement, no matter how well deserved, sends a bad message.

RE: Retirement
I only mention this out of a perverse sense of observation but if a retirement were to be announced on April 7 at W&M, and if that retirement were related to W&M athletics, there is one sport which is hosting a natural occasion for such an announcement.

This post legitimately made my stomach drop.

I'm sticking with the working hypothesis that President Reveley will be announcing that his retirement effective June 30 of 2018 to campus ahead of the mid-April BOV meeting.

RE: Retirement
With Ms Huge coming in it would be logical for her to want her own staff . When a coach is let go his whole staff is usually not rehired, this is a similiar situation . A new CEO is hired from the outside it is not uncommon for that person to bring people they know and trust with them.
So, Bobby Dwyer could be the person retiring. He is of age .

I repeat, this announcement has nothing to do with Bobby Dwyer. I would not waste anyone's time with any news related to that guy.

Can you tell us whether it is sports related or outside of sports?
