I wouldn't blame Crawford for moving on. It's a rebuilding year anyway. He'll have offers from top schools that will be playing in the tourney.

I love Markel and support any decision he makes. I hope like hell he stays. He will be forever revered as a lifetime Tiger, and would be the major piece of next year's rebuild. If he can feel more comfortable now that the cancer has decided to move on, maybe he'll stay.

@mgiannotto I would be surprised if Markel Crawford is back at this point.

Even before Lawsons' announcement, Markel Crawford was considering whether to leave as grad transfer. There was friction between him & KJ.

It seemed almost like Markel wasn't around in the last few games of the season anyway.

As much as I hate to say it, but if I think it would probably be in his best interest to find a school that has NCAA hopes.

He's a sophomore. Will be a Junior next season...

Redshirt junior, which means one more year.

I would like to see Markel get one year of good playing time on a team that has a chance to make it to the tourney...and on a team that has less turmoil.

you transfer to play for a conference championship and play in the NCAAs. I would hope he stays, he seems to have a good head on his shoulders, plays hard, and would probably be a key of whatever is next year's team. But if he transfers, I would wish him well.

This team will be bottom of the barrel next year. The only thing they'll be playing for is pride if there's even any of that left by February.

If Markel wants to play for a conference championship and/or any kind of post season tournament it won't be in a Memphis uniform.

You know, I've never heard any city kid regret staying and playing for the Tigers. I've heard a few who left hint at regrets, though. So we can say we hope he leaves and feel good about ourselves, thinking that makes us altruistic and all. And a game in the tourney might be fun. But there's also something to be said for repping the city university - whether we think it's right or not.

He'll graduate and have a degree from Memphis. Look what happened for Avery Woodson this year.

Why stay and play for a sorry team when you've done your job and graduated and can go play for a team that has a chance to win and go to the NCAA tournament?

The stuff between Markel and KJ seems to have been going awhile. Was trending when KJ made his "no friends" comment, then evidently peaked in Florida. The play of both really tailed off the past 5 or so weeks. Markel dropped more than KJ.

So there's mixed reviews on whether Markel stays. He seems relieved that the Lawsons are gone, so that's a plus more than a minus. But he was and is considering a move for post-season reasons.

I'll standby whatever decision he makes. I think he will be respectful either way and not burn any bridge. I won't cheer for him over the program, but I will not "who" him.

He should honestly go. He doesn't deserve whats coming next year.

Who are we to tell him? We don't know his priorities. I'll support either way - as long as he is respectful of the program. And it is the program that I'm talking about. Not current players, coaches, or admin.
