So that puts us at 8 assuming Markel is gone?

Yup

Need to get to 11 real scholarship players minimum, prefferably 12. Hopefully some grads on the horizon.

We already witnessed the shorthanded experience last year.

They need to load almost every chamber this year.

Disagree.

This year is a waste. 4 JUCOs, some 7 footer who averaged 6 ppg in low level Chicago high school, three unheralded frosh likely forced into major minutes.

Get up to 10 scholarships. Save three for a mid-season transfer and recruit 2018 like it is life or death. Hopefully five or six good frosh to piggyback the three we have this year so that two or three years after the 8 frosh/sophs are gelling.

If they fill up to 12 or 13, then there is a possibility that they'll only have two scholarships for 2018--and that class is too important to miss on.

We might have used all our "things always seem to work themselves out" on this year's roster hemorrhage.

I see both sides to the discussion...but why even save any scholleys if he's gonna do the same thing with 'em. Besides which, if some of the guys he brings in are any good, they will get the heck out for the right offer.

Which is why I said grads.

They will be at 10 regardless with 1 senior.

May as well add 1-2 more seniors.

But I do like the idea of adding a high level standard transfer that sits out. The Duke or Kansas bigs would be ideal obviously though not likely.

Are there decent grads who will come here to play Tubbyball? We really have a lot of playing time, but will the team he manages to cobble together support good players.

The skilled players seem to do better around players with experience and skills.

shrug

Doubt they can get high level.

Certainly believe they can get better than Chad or Kessee.

Yeah, but I would have bet on that last year, too.

We will see. I hope tubby knows what he's doing.

We all know they punted last year.

All but a few minor holdouts believe otherwise.

They didn't last year.

I see no reason to think they will get any better than those, but maybe someone will tell him he HAS TO do something to keep the fans from leaving. lol. I hear he's stubborn.

Last year was purposeful.

Heck he's already turned down Nick King who is better than both Chad and Kessee.

You would think they have a plan.

Running out 9 guys (hopefully) along with a D2 freshman doesn't sound like a great plan.

Have to assume there are more tweaks coming.

They need to be some sneaky freaky tweaks.

RE: Your 2017-18 Memphis Tigers basketball team ...
Funny thing is there are still difference makers on the board - a few top 10 HS kids unsigned, top 40 JCs, and a good bit of transfers - standard DI and graduate.

Tubby pulls in the Duke grad transfer center and Rutgers grad transfer point guard (obviously just examples) and all of a sudden, folks start to forget what's going on.

One thing that won't work is this strict JUCO policy.

Got show the ability to get DI experience on this roster.

Heck, just pull the Duke or Kansas big men F transfer that has to sit out for next year and folks could pretend there was a light.
