Retired Jersey Numbers
Toledo MBB has one retired jersey number, Steve Mix. You won't get any argument on that, but should there be more?

Since the Rocket have played more than 100 years, you would think that more than one player deserves the honor. How about starting with All-Americans? Besides Mix there are only two, Chuck Chukovits (1938-39) and Bob Gerber (1941-42). Just because these players were on the floor for Toledo more than 70 years ago, should they be forgotten? At their time they were certainly considered among the best in the nation.

After Gerber and Chuckovits, you could get an argument for a few other players who may deserve to have their jerseys hanging from the rafters.

Ken Epperson is often mentioned because he is UT's career scoring and rebounding leader. He was the MAC Freshman of the Year and twice first team all conference.

Tom Kozelko is the only Rocket that was MAC POY twice. And he was first team all-conference three times.

I'm not advocating for retiring a boatload of jerseys, but it seems like after Mix the process just stopped. Maybe it should be revisited.

RE: Retired Jersey Numbers
According to my dad Toledo basketball began and ended with Chukovitz. Epperson would be an obvious choice, Kozelko a good one as well. Not sure how Larry Jones stacked up in college but he had a great pro career. Stan Joplin comes to mind for his dual contributions.
