Houston president flirts...
with PAC12? Houston would be a huge pickup for both market, and some more amenable kickoff times... especially if paired with someone else in the central (SMU?).

It's just a picture. Or is it?

ACC would be at a lost if they lose 3 western parts of their conference. Who would the AAC invite from the west? UTSA, Rice La. Tech or Arkansas State?

Makes sense that he showed up here, because this board is like fly paper for batsh*t insane realignment scenarios. 07-coffee3

Houston & Haw to pac-12
houston in east with So schools & haw in west with No schools
both div would have schools as outliners
Houston is the only way pac-12 gets in tex
Haw offers extra games
both offer different time slots

Just a picture. They were both on a round table discussion of college athletics at the Final Four. Never hurts to make new friends though. Perhaps one day down the road it might help.

RE: Houston president flirts...
The PAC turned down OU and OSU because of OSU's academics. OSU's academics are better than Houston's and Houston's are not bad. I'd say she is going to have to do more than flirt if this is about realignment. She is probably attending some other kind of function.

I'm not sure the PAC wants to add anyone. I'm sure they would take Texas but probably not with an entourage.

Nah, he seems more like Yossarian. He's just looking for a section 8.

Houston and Rice would make the most sense. Rice has the academics the Pacific likes and even with a downsized stadium, it still is plenty big.

There isn't room. Sewanee, Stetson, Wafford, and Samford have already been invited to the PAC 16. Book it.

Lots of schools and conferences send people to the final four, even if they don't have teams playing. Lots of these impromptu hallway meetings. Don't think it means anything.

She's been "working the room" for a while. She has "selfies" with Gordon Gee (WVU president-also on the roundtable), Greg Fenves (UT president) and Ken Starr (when he was Baylor president and on the Big 12 expansion committee).

Maybe it's personal networking -- when a presidency spot opens up for schools already in the PAC ... 05-stirthepot

Tech, Houston, OSU and Texas to the Pac-16.

OU and KU to the B1G.

TCU and WVU to the SEC.

KSU, ISU and Baylor to the AAC.

Thats how you carve up the Big XII.

Just a guess that Houston and Rice are competing to tag along with Bevo, if Texas decides the PAC makes sense for them. UH has student body and alumni size, pending leg up on facilities with the new Hofheinz/Fertitta Arena, and recent football success. Rice has the AAU status, some serious ties to Stanford, and the ability to spend big if an invitation is in the mail.

Rice did recently support UT-Houston, whereas the Coogs applied political pressure to kill it. 07-coffee3

Adding Rice and Houston would be a smart move for the PAC 12. The only other schools that make sense are Texas and Oklahomer

Kansas and Mizzou would be an interesting combo, but very doubtful Mizzou would leave the SEC for the PAC 12

TCU puts the SEC in the Dallas market to go along with the Houston Market A&M brings. WVU is a cultural and athletic fit. Also a school who knows how to play both money sports at a high level. The SEC needs more competent basketball programs.
