Patrick Ewing
New head coach at Georgetown. Saw him lose to Michael Jordan's Tar Heel team in the 1982 Final Four in New Orleans. Hope he does well.

What is Ewing's college basketball coaching background? That will make a huge difference as to how well he does. Just being a great college and pro player doesn't necessarily prepare a guy to be a good college basketball coach. History is littered with guys with no college coaching background who have bombed, including Sidney Moncrief here.

No college experience that I know of. Long time NBA assistant. Wasn't their top choice. Georgetown is not the Georgetown of old, and most recruits never heard of Patrick. Won't be easy, but I'll be pulling for him (unless we play against Georgetown).

Recruits today wouldn't be born for over 20 years since Ewing was a great at Georgetown. This pick was for the elder John Thompson speculates a CBS writer. Sounds right to me.
