drop the SWAC and MEAC to D-II, maybe keeping FAMU, and Hampton in D-I

Cut it back to 150-250 teams.

Ditch the SEC, ACC, and BIG. Put those teams in the Ohio Valley, the Colonial, and the Atlantic Sun.

Okay, is that 353 or 355 schools if you count North Alabama and California Baptist moving up from D2? We might see more D2 schools getting invites before this exercise is over like Merrimack, Bentley and Southern New Hampshire.

I'm having trouble figuring out the point of this exercise. Why would any school willingly give up about $85K per year and get nothing of value in return? And why would everyone else try to make them do it just to take a measly $15K more?

Interesting topic. Only thing I can think of right now is to move Alabama A&M and Alabama State to the OVC.

Delete the WAC:

No....Grand Canyon actually has a full arena the other two doubtful...

I don't think it's possible without making at least one, and possibly three conferences entirely too big to be sustained. The easy way out is to shutter three conferences and tell everyone to fend for themselves as independents, but for small schools, that's a death sentence.
