RE: Question for WKU posters
It should probably be spelled ROWDIES?An area where fans can stand to watch the game. Also beer served in that area.In the past students and others have "razzed" opposing teams bullpen, right fielders, etc. during the game.Of course this was more effective when we had good teams. Recent examples 2004,2008,2009--NCAA regionals. One win from super regional in'09(with Chris Finwood-current ODU coach). We have some good baseball history here and the current situation is very frustrating.

I noticed that spelling error, too. However, FWIW, I think one of the fraternities on campus made the banner.

Haven't we been through this before?

I know they're all the same to you old friend, but Pike and Pi Kapp are two different organizations.

Looks like the severe butt whippings admistered by the Golden Eagles this weekend cleared the roost very quickly.

We have and I was just joking. I have no idea what group is what and which one has secret handshakes and which one plays hide the hotdog for entrance.

I think we can agree on one thing from the OP. Grammar and spelling aren't a prerequisite to get in one. If the sign was made by a fraternity.

Probably the overall record has something to do with it as well. I've watched many ball games from that corner. Not because I'm Rowdy Roddy Rahbeed either. It's just the corner where they've been selling beer for years. Long before they sold beer in the football stadium (~3 years ago) and long before they sold beer in the basketball arena (this year) you could find yourself a cold one and a brat or polish sausage at a reasonable exchange in the right field deck.

I know we're struggling right now but hey.....we's gots an SEC coach now. We's gonna be goooooooood.

The grammatical mistake notwithstanding, I'm trying to also understand what exactly I'm looking at. I don't really see any seats in that section, but is that a platform behind the wall which people can sit or stand on?

The picture doesn't really show. That's a wall down the right field line. There is a deck that begins past the visitors dugout down first base line. There are no seats. There are some picnic tables along the wall. There is a concession stand where one can purchase dogs, brats, polish sausages and burgers. They also sell beer. If everyone is setting on the picnic tables there's a ledge one can lean on down the right field line.

The visitors bullpen is in the right field corner so you can talk to the relief pitchers as they jog on. The start of the deck is near enough to first base to yell out "C'mon Blue" and have them hear you after they make a bad call against Western.

Not a great place to be able to really tell balls and strikes but it's a good place for me when I go to the games.

Were you at the games this weekend? The reason that I ask is I was down the right field line on Saturday and hung out with Irby's dad. Had a great conversation with him.
Only got to one game as I had a long list of "honey-dos".
The great thing about baseball, as opposed to football or basketball, is the relaxed atmosphere which is more conducive to friendly conversations with opposing fans.

I was not there. Saw that pic on a USM twitter sight. Was curious what it was.

Yep. They started it around 3-4 years ago. At first you had to stand in line and get a band certifying age. I don't know if they still do that or not. I usually hit one of the beer stands because their cokes are cold and it's not one of the concession stands being run by a country church to raise money. And can't add or subtract. And the lines go forever. I go to the beer stand and they move fast.

They just started selling beer in Diddle arena this year. Not sure why they sold in football but not hoops until this year.

ODU has a beer garden as well. The main difference being it's not open to every ticket holder, you need to donate a certain amount to gain access. Same goes for hoops.

Our governance was just changed by our Governor. We now have our own Board of Trustees. I'm hoping that this change can lead to our being able to sell beer on campus (not sure of the State laws in their current form and how they may be changed given the new structure). A large portion of our fans are also hoping this will lead to a name change as well.
