RE: Early QB Rumors/Rumbling
If it's neck to neck, as unfair to some as it might be, I think you go with the true freshman. The experience gained playing early will set the team up for success moving forward. Having a multi year starter in an offense will always trump shuffling in a new starter every 2 years.

One Tribe. One Family.

I could definitely see that happening but wouldn't that be the worst case scenario? A QB controversy filled year without a clear starter.
I took Tribal's meaning as "when was the last time we had an injury-free QB before last year?"

Cluley started every game in 2014 and 2015 as well.

I agree with you, but neck and neck has usually gone to the veteran under Jimmye.

That's because...well, look at the depth chart those two years + Doc showed a lot of promise after his redshirt sophomore season.

One Tribe. One Family.

And because he stayed mostly in one piece.

Seems to imply to me that there were no good outside candidates. Otherwise, why would he still be just giving consideration, as opposed to already confidently promoting someone from the staff. Sounds like it WILL be Jimmye calling the shots this fall on offense.

Believe this will be Shon Mitchell's team come C-ville.

Still no announced special teams coordinator.

Just to clarify, we have not advertised for an offensive coordinator.

RE: Early QB Rumors/Rumbling
In the RTD article Jimmye refers to Shon Mitchell as "a gifted athlete: who "wants to learn". I have been around Laycock for most of his entire career as coach of the Tribe and he rarely uses the term gifted in describing young quarterbacks before they've ever played (or, for that matter, even when they're playing).

I believe Jimmye is going to take on Shon as his project and that Mitchell will get every chance, barring injury, to be our starter.

This is an interesting time and the spring game will be closely watched.

So to state the obvious, the listing that closed Mar 22nd was only for an assistant coach, and intent all along is that Jimmye IS the offensive coordinator?

That certainly is what it looks like.

I think that vacancy was to fill the Marvin Clecidor spot perhaps.
