Oh boy - watching the Reds pitching batting practice to Arizona in 90 degree humid weather should be fun.

The company was good. The game turned out exactly as I thought it would.

It was a HR derby for Arizona.

price still might be a competent coach. tough to judge since the pitchers might just be crap.

trade billy and move peraza to center, make scoot a part of the team. sell mez to some al team as the second coming of edwin encarnacion. i like tucker

Lost 22 more than they have won

About 20 games out of the wild card hunt.

Last in MLB in runs allowed.

Bottom 10 in MLB in runs scored.

Most of the trove of prospects acquired in trades are either gone, are going under the knife, or are struggling.

Everything is going right according to plan heading into August.

But which 10 years? This is feeling more and more like the Lindner era.

How weird is it that it's the trade deadline and a team doing a multi-year rebuild doesn't have anyone healthy enough or decent enough to have any contending team interested?

Reds deal Tony Cingrani to Dodgers. No word yet what they got in return. Was making $1.8 mill and was under control until after 2019 season.

Has not been very good but my how his star fell.

So ballparking recent trade genealogy, Reds traded:

Alonzo, Grandal, Brad Boxberger and Volquez for Latos who was traded for Deacalfani who was traded for a 31 year old minor league journeyman who is batting .140.

Puke. Vomit. Throw-up. And the underwhelming continues to flow.

Is San Francisco really 34.5 games back? Yeah, the Dodgers...

I think you are getting your Italian Red pitchers confused. DeSclafani is still with the Reds, but like most of the pitching staff, is injured. Cingrani was a 3rd round draft pick of the Reds in the 2011 draft. He's the guy they traded for VanSlyke. BTW, the Reds also got a nice lottery ticket in 20 year old catcher Hendrik Clementina in the Cingrani deal. He's currently hitting .370/.439/.554 for a .994 OPS (albeit in 92 ABs in the Pioneer League).

Homer Bailey gave up 10 Hits and 10 ER in 3 1/3 innings. His record will go to 3-6 with 8.86 ERA. Going into the game today he was 63-59 overall with 4.36 ERA. 31 years old and injury prone. Not a good formula for current or future success.

But he does have those two no-hitters. How many years left on his fat contract?
