I watched OT. Can't believe UConn went down. Epic win at the buzzer.

UCONN's women's basketball is the best thing to happen to the game. Whether you love them or hate them, they brought in a lot of outside of attention the game. That streak was incredible. Hopefully people keep watching and there are more games like this one!

UConn losing doesn't bring back any excitement, other schools need to offer them some competition. This game showed that they haven't played a tight game in a LONG time and they couldn't handle the pressure.... The AAC has had a few other teams ranked over the last few years... But obviously UConn has been the cream of the crop.

Its never good for one team to stay dominant, people lose interest. The talent pool coming out of high school for girls is not as large as it is for guys, and UCONN has been getting the bulk of that talent for a while. Upsets are not near as common in the girls game like the men's simply because of the lack of advanced talent to go around for the girls game. Over the past few years many had lost interest in the girls game because its always the same few teams every year. I personally have nothing against UCONN, i just think its bad for the game

I agree. I feel like UConn's loss tonight has a lot of people talking about women's basketball that otherwise wouldn't even know they had a final four. But, to be fair, UConn had to have a huge streak to lose it.

RE: BYE BYE BYE
Got a text message about it. Literally asked, "I assume UConn is still good?"

They just had like a 100 game streak snapped about ten ago, right?!

One team dominating like that may provide publicity but that speaks volumes (in a bad way) about the quality in a sport.

UConn will be blaming the AAC shortly for their downfall and begging once again to get into the ACC or Big 10.

I just hate it was an SEC team, particularly Mississippi State, that beat them. We will never hear the end if it here...

.
I actually stayed up and watched a woman's game past midnight, I would've never done that, except maybe WKU, other than watching UConn have a chance to lose.
Not a hater of UConn by any means but glad to see them reeled back into the pack so to speak. They were beating other ranked teams by 40+ commonly which never happens on the men's side.
This helps women's basketball, I think. By the way Doris Burke is turrible, I think Cara Lawson is pretty good most of the time but that flagrant one near the end was not a flagrant foul, the UConn girl sold that one with some good acting.

I didnt see any intention with that foul, just started reach for the ball. What bothered me was they let the play go on and Mississippi State have a position that could have changed the outcome of the game one way of the other. Im sure both coaches would have played that last minute differently if the game would have been stopped immediately to review things ...... either way it worked in the benefit of UCONN which still didnt matter.

The refs just missed the call, I was screaming for it from my couch.

She got her under the chin, auto flagrant. The State player that got the flagrant was totally bailed out by the terrible lapse in judgement by the UCONN player that drove way too early.

RE: BYE BYE BYE
UCONN is to women's basketball what UCLA was to men's basketball back during the John Wooden era. UCLA won 10 men's basketball NCAA national championships in a 12-yr span from 1963 to 1975. Say what you wish, but interest in the the men's game improved immensely when Wooden retired in 1975, and UCLA no longer dominated the men's game. After UCLA fell from grace, interest in the men's game grew as more teams "had a chance" to win. This new interest ultimately led to the annual "NCAA Tournament" field being expanded from 32 teams to 64, and what we commonly know today as March Madness.
