Exclamation Sun Belt 2017 pro day, combine, draft etc thread
http://www.gseagles.com/news/2017/3/30/f...o-day.aspx

Matt Breida:
4.38 40 YD: faster than all but one back at the combine, don't know if they used laser-timing or not
23 reps on the bench press: tied for 3rd among all backs at the combine
42" vertical leap: best of all backs at the combine
11'2" broad jump" best of all backs at the combine

2017 combine numbers for backs

Hopefully the bad job by our offensive coaches last year didn't completely kill his chances.

Anyone else got players whose stock might be rising?

No idea. They shut ours off from fans and media (huge suckitude). Don't even know who participated other than S Javante O'Roy. Our AD is an idiot and he just keeps on giving.

Not that you would build an indoor practice facility just for Pro Day but I think this is the 3rd time in the last 4 years that Pro Day has happened in the rain, which makes the 40 #'s even more impressive and adds another reason to why we should consider this somewhat of a priority (the other being we have to practice indoors often during the summer because of all the rain.

Kennan Gilchrist was probably our best performer overall. Had 27 reps on bench, which would've been tied for first among linebackers at the combine, 4.57 in the 40, which would be second among LBs, and I believe shuttle and verticals that were top three as well.

22 teams were in attendance for it, with 13 of our guys taking part. Believe there were some other guys from local FCS and D2 schools as well.

Troy OT Antonio Garcia stock may have risen a tad since Troy's Pro Day. Right now he is considered the 5th or 6th best OT in the class. He's projected to be a 2nd or 3rd Round pick. Some sites have had him going in the 1st Round, but I don't see that happening.

DE Junior Gnonkonde supposedly impressed some at Pro Day. Not sure if he will be drafted though.

stAte's beautiful indoor practice facility evidently has slow turf that scouts and/or agents ***** about . . .

Here are the results from App's Pro day.

http://www.appstatesports.com/ViewArticl...=211535509

"According to App State’s director of strength and conditioning and professional football liaison Mike Sirignano, the Mountaineers performed well and impressed the assembled scouts on Monday. Defensive back Mondo Williams, a First Team All-Sun Belt selection this season, ran a 4.37 for one of his 40-yard dash times. Linebacker Kennan Gilchrist ran a 4.57 for one of his 40-yard times and showed well with a 35-inch vertical jump and 25 reps on the 225-lb bench press. App’s career rushing leader Marcus Cox showed well with a solid 40 time at 4.58 and a 10-foot broad jump. Safety Alex Gray had strong marks as well with a 4.51 in the 40 and a 35-inch vertical. "

say it right here, Collins is going to be a steal in the late rounds for someone. Throw back player, nasty, never quits, and plays with a serious edge, will be playing on Sundays.

Wouldn't mind Marcus Cox going to the Falcons. His vision and acceleration would be great for the outside zone plays Atlanta runs.

Parker Collins and Kennan Gilchrist received solid reviews. Jamie Collmar received a workout with the Panthers after the Pro Day (Jerry likes his Carolina boys to stick around if possible).

John Law ran better than most thought he would (4.7) however his stature is questionable for where he fits in with an NFL team.

As it currently stands, I believe Collins, Gilchrist, and Cox have the best opportunity of being at least on a practice squad to start the 2017 season. Mondo Williams, Law, and Collmar are on the bubble.

According to NFL Draft Scout, all numbers other than Gilchrist and Collins were inflated by the App State website. For instance,Williams Profile, shows him at a 4.49 40.

Someone mentioned USA had 28 NFL teams represented at our pro day, mostly to see Gerald Everett. But a highlight for me was our punter who had 22 reps on bench! Everett decided not to do the 40 or bench at our pro day and will stand with his combine numbers.

If Breida showed that he can catch the ball I wouldn't be surprised to see him moved out wide.

Breaking: we just found a 6th year of eligibility and Everett is coming back. Just kidding but I wish. Lol

I think Crockett and Eligwe both turn heads as well. IIRC Eligwe ran the faster than all LB's at the combine. All three did it outside with it raining as well.

Koo was hitting kicks from 50 yards out. Kickers usually dont have much chance of being drafted but I can see Brieda, Crockett and Eligwe being picked in the later rounds.

Eligwe will be a solid role player in the NFL but scouts are not giving him the benefit of the doubt because of his dismissal from FSU. He will be one of those late round picks that makes noise and everyone asks, "where did this guy come from?". The talent is there or else he wouldn't have had as large of a role as he did at Florida State.

I think he would have greatly benefited using the last year of eligibility proving his worth on and off the field but he is the only expert on his situation. I think with an outstanding last season he had a shot at the third round and guaranteed money.

Like with McKinnon I think Breida some team is going to take a chance on him with those results. Crockett was blazing fast as well but I have no idea how he looked in the other drills.
