Matt Breida:
4.38 40 YD: faster than all but one back at the combine, don't know if they used laser-timing or not
23 reps on the bench press: tied for 3rd among all backs at the combine
42" vertical leap: best of all backs at the combine
11'2" broad jump" best of all backs at the combine
2017 combine numbers for backs
Hopefully the bad job by our offensive coaches last year didn't completely kill his chances.
Anyone else got players whose stock might be rising?
I think Crockett and Eligwe both turn heads as well. IIRC Eligwe ran the faster than all LB's at the combine. All three did it outside with it raining as well.
Koo was hitting kicks from 50 yards out. Kickers usually dont have much chance of being drafted but I can see Brieda, Crockett and Eligwe being picked in the later rounds.
Eligwe will be a solid role player in the NFL but scouts are not giving him the benefit of the doubt because of his dismissal from FSU. He will be one of those late round picks that makes noise and everyone asks, "where did this guy come from?". The talent is there or else he wouldn't have had as large of a role as he did at Florida State.
I think he would have greatly benefited using the last year of eligibility proving his worth on and off the field but he is the only expert on his situation. I think with an outstanding last season he had a shot at the third round and guaranteed money.
Like with McKinnon I think Breida some team is going to take a chance on him with those results. Crockett was blazing fast as well but I have no idea how he looked in the other drills.
As I said, late round pick, will likely be a guy that makes noise. More than likely his time at Southern will be considered an after thought and most of the press that follows him will refer to him as an FSU product.
