NMSU JUCO Recruiting
New Mexico State is recruiting the JUCO ranks pretty hard.

Signed:

Tyree Robinson (6'5 PF) rated the 34th best JUCO recruit.
Jachai Simmons (6'8 SF) rated the 59th best JUCO recruit.

Offered:

Corey Davis (6'1 PG) rated the 18th best JUCO recruit.
Chris McNeal (5'11 PG) rated the 38th best JUCO recruit. *added late
Vance Johnson (6'9 PF) rated the 77th best JUCO recruit.
Dante Thorpe (6'4 SG) rated the 99th best JUCO recruit.

NMSU is loading up. GCU, Bakersfield, and Utah Valley better get on the recruiting trail. NMSU is about to leave all of you in the dust.

You keep forgetting about #38 Chris McNeal (5'11 PG). NMSU is recruiting him as well.

RE: NMSU JUCO Recruiting
How many more players can Coach Wier possibly bring in next season? Aren't they already at NFL training camp type numbers when you add up the current players, committed HS kids, & transfers?

Team vans/bus must look like clown cars at the circus when they pull up to team hotels. Not the clown part, but impossible numbers of guys just keep climbing out.

Weir just continues to reload onto an already great basketball squad. Danny Boy better get his butt on the recruiting trail. GCU isn't doing anything to better themselves next year while NMSU is adding players onto a team who'll return four double digit scorers.

RE: NMSU JUCO Recruiting
GCU graduated two players. GCU has two 2017 commits coming in. There is no recruiting to be done at this point, unless someone leaves the program.

NCAA allows 15 roster spots for hoops. 13 can receive scholarships. Per Verbal Commits, Aggies should be done recruiting for 2017-18, too.

1. Garza WO
2. Huggins
3. Pennie
4. J. Jones
5. M. Jones
6. Wilkins
7. Harris
8. N'Dir
9. Simmons
10. Robinson
11. Chuha
12. Haley
13. Figueroa
14. McCants
15. Gnahore
16. Hadley

Where is NMSU going to put any one of the 4 offered JUCO or 8 Class of 2017 kids if they accept? Unless VC missed something, Aggies' roster presently has a) one too many players, and b) 2 too many scholarship players.

Which of the above players you previously posted video for and swore would tear up the WAC is Wier now going to cut in order to make room for the new round of players you posted video for and swear will tear up the WAC?

In all probability Johnny McCants will be a walk-on. Also, there is questions on Jalyn Pennie's return. He might graduate early like Taylor and Bhullar.

Also, keep in mind, NMSU's roster also looks bloated because NMSU uses it's branch community college as an alternative to prep school for some freshmen recruits. many of NMSU's freshmen enrolled at NMSU (pay their own way as walk-on freshmen) and take college prep classes at the branch college to improve their GPA or meet NCAA clearing house eligibility requirements for the following year; instead of attend another year of prep school which can be more expensive. For example, LJ Figueroa enrolled at NMSU in January instead of finishing his year at a Florida prep school. I'm not sure if Gabe Hadley will be eligible right away or whether he red-shirts next season to acclimate to college life? In the end, the roster will look overloaded but some of these freshmen are actually first year walk-ons. Menzies made it work. I'm sure Weir will make it work too. This is the advantages of having a branch community college on the same site as the main University. And, sometimes Aggie players use this to their advantage further down the road. Because Taylor and Bhullar redshirted their first year at NMSU, they will now graduate early (this summer) as Juniors and they will still have eligibility remaining if they chose to transfer. Matt Taylor is leaving to pursue a pro career (probably overseas) and Tanveer is leaving as well but he might transfer and play immediately somewhere else. BTW, our Basketball team's APR was 1000 this year.
