I'm not following the topic very closely, so this may have been answered already.
There was discussion at WSU about restarting its FB program. Have there been any leaks on if a WSU FB program, at some point in the future, would be included if they move to the AAC?
To paraphrase what some Wichita State fans have told me, WSU didn't think they'd be attractive to any conferences above the MVC in the pecking order without football. With the AAC interested in WSU without football, the need for football is reduced drastically.
I have not heard anything about whether the agreement with the AAC would include a path for football inclusion.

Whether Wichita State starts to play football again, I don't believe that has anything to do with their understanding with the AAC. There haven't been any leaks that I'm aware of. My understanding is that they will be the compliment to Navy football and play the sports they currently have.

President Bardo has said from the beginning that conference affiliation will be decided before any action is taken on football.

To me, the largest potential benefit that Wichita State could have had with starting FBS football was to get into a better league for basketball purposes. If the AAC takes Wichita State without FBS football, then that eliminates almost all of the impetus for starting Shocker football entirely.

Except for the fact that Bardo also sees football as a way to draw in and retain more students and offer a more traditional experience on campus. He believes it will help even more with students from TX and OK. Bardo absolutely wants football, even if we have to be FCS for a while. His decision will be based on a lot of other things so it still may or may not happen. Most startup funds have been pledged from my understanding, including from our biggest named football alum Bill Parcels.
Time will tell which way we go, but just because we may get into a better basketball conference, doesn't kill the potential for football returning to campus.
