Nice performance - that's a new PR for Filip. The guy who beat him from A&M set a new NCAA record in winning, and was the NCAA champion last year (and 16th at the Olympics). Austin Riddle also did well today, breaking his own school record in the hammer.

That is an amazing achievement, and certainly deserves more recognition! Olympics in Filip's future too?

It's early in the season, but Scott Filip is #3 in the world in the Decathlon. Of course, the Olympics are a goal. Rice has other decathletes, including the very talented Charlie Card-Childers.

RE: Texas Relays
Some very nice marks and times by the women today over at UH, although they were all wind-aided so they won't count for record purposes. But Baylor transfer Hannah Jackson ran 11.44 in the 100 and 23.00 in the 200 - her 200 time would have been a school record were it not for the wind. Freshman Michelle Fokam had a solid long jump of 20-7 1/4, and senior Daisy Ding triple-jumped 42-9 3/4.
The good news is even if they were all wind-aided, they count for NCAA qualifying purposes and all of those times/marks should easily qualify them for the NCAA West preliminaries next month in Austin (I think??).
