Cincinnati's problem is that every other school in their state is in the MAC. Do you want Dayton?

Actually we want Louisville and Pitt. But, if that's not possible, we wouldn't want to share markets with Dayton. So, in that sense, maybe being isolated is better than the realistic alternative.

RE: The AAC Footprint with Wichita State
AAC shouldn't have divisions, but they can schedule like they do. Could even use travel partners; they are pretty obvious looking at the map (there are a couple of different choices that could be used). Travel partners have always made a lot of sense to me. Go on the road and play 2, then get 2 at home, even weekday/weekend split. Get 2 1-game weeks.
As for the number of games, 16 obviously fits perfectly; could do 18 by adding an extra series. Either way.

We are going to add all sports for 13/14 so it'll probably be 2 of WKU, MTSU, and ODU. Of course there is always the AF/CSU rumblings but that would stretch us too far and BYU at this point will stay where they are unless NCAA forces them to partner up.

Think about it, all three have basketball history and we've been trying to shore up the basketball side. They all also have momentum in football which means they won't downgrade the FB brand.

RE: The AAC Footprint with Wichita State
Judging by Mike Aresco's comments about the AAC staying at 10 in FB if the conference lost members to the Big 12 last year, I think the 10 game football championship game rule altered his thoughts on expansion.

I don't see the AAC moving from 12 in FB and MBB for the foreseeable future.

Wichita State brings a signature brand to cap the membership at 12.

agree. just like there's a gap between the P5 and the 'merican, there's a gap between the 'merican and the rest of the G5. Wichita fills a need, and, beyond that, brings something to the table. If I were the commish, I wouldn't go past this move - just keep fball and bball at 12 and call it a day.

I think we need to reconsider western expansion in light of the likely addition of Wichita State. I think Boise State, Colorado State, and BYU or even Utah State make sense as all sports members with us already being in TX, OK, and now probably KS.

BYU and Boise state would really help strengthen our already strong football side of the conference.

And BYU has decent hoops too and Boise seems to be making pretty good progress.
