This guy didn't even have Toledo on his list. How can you say Toledo lost out? All these big bodies, that you feel Toledo may lose out to other schools is B.S. All big kids CAN'T play Div 1 basketball. Keep everything on a even keel. Do we need big bodies, yes we do, can we get some, maybe. The big schools can't take them all. Hopefully some one will stay close, but, you can't blame the coaching staff, if, we don't get any from around here.

According to the article he did take an official visit to Toledo.

6'4" and 160 pounds--I wish him well...not the kind of use for a scholarship that I'm looking for at this late date, though. I wonder how hard Toledo pushed after his visit?

from the article it looks like MSU pushed with promised playing time and that didn't help. UT may have been in early and got a fall visit and this kid could have blownup. We need consistent quality evaluation on prospects and then develop them. getting high 3 and 4 stars will be a benefit down the road after we can have some sustained success. PT at this level to most isn't an issue as they will get PT at higher levels just like Willie Jackson did at missouri this year before he transferred.

Cleveland kid leaving Kansas. Not sure of his connection to our 2 incoming cleveland recruits, including a high profile transfer. Bragg is described as having legal baggage but that's a bit dubious. He got arrested for having pot smoking paraphernalia but no dope and was charged in an assault but the investigation later determined he was the victim and charged the person he supposedly assaulted. Legit big guy.

Possible connection would be Norm Roberts asst coach at Kansas and father of Rocket PG Justin Roberts

RE: Men’s Basketball Recruiting against the Big Boys!
When does the signing period start.

Braggs above would only work if we don't sign someone who can play next year or we have another player leave if we do sign another player. Elliot above was a player you don't expect to get but I doesn't hurt to offer. Stan had the annoying habit of not even offering local kids who probably weren't coming here but it does not hurt to offer them if you get 1 in a 100 of these guys you will get to the Dance.

6' 9" David Bell is transferring from Ohio state he did play at Garfield heights with Jackson's. He was a 3 stat out of high school I would think he will give the Rockets strong consideration if there is interest from Coach K.

Bell did nothing at Ohio State. Had a redshirt year and played two. After he sat out one he would have one to play.

JD Weatherspoon didn't do much at Ohio State either. Just saying!

currently 1 spot open. I would assume that Antunez will be "helped" to find another school option for his final year of eligibility. Tough luck for him to get hurt right before the season and never get his shot, but his injury gave Sanford the time to prove he can handle both pg and sg, plus we have a true pg coming in this fall and Roberts will probably stick around-he has limitations but showed some grit and responded to his early struggles with improvement as the season progressed. Antunez will again be at the end of the bench with no real future in the program, so I expect to see the Rockets bring in 2 more new players, probably a big who can play right away and the best talent they can get (grad transfer, rs transfer, juco or frosh) with the other. I expect all the returning starters, navigato and adway to be back.

Sleepy, Curious, you gave me the opinion that Navigato along with Adway was looking elsewhere?

no, not saying that at all. there are 12 scholarship's spoken for. antunez is a senior playing behind 3 younger players. he has some game. might be able to go to another d1 and sit a year and play as a sr. or might go d2 and be the guy for a year. doesn't make much sense for him to stay at UT. so, that means 2 spots open. I assume Navigato and Adway are all in. They are certainly in perfect position to be key players on a good team for their upperclass years. obviously, coach k wants to fill at least 1 of those slots with a big guy, preferably eligible next yr. i imagine if a big talented transfer makes a good impression they will give him a spot regardless if he has to sit a yr.

Antunez might stay if he's thinking MBA rather than NBA.
