RE: USM vs WKU baseball
Here's how WKU's starting pitcher for Saturday Kirkpatrick (Righthanded) has done in his 6 starts this year:
Valpo: 4.1, L, 3 ER, 5 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 4 HBP, 71 pitches
Jacksonville St: 6.0, W, 3 ER (4 total), 9 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 106 pitches
Ohio: 8.1, L, 3 ER, 8 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 79 pitches
Illinois St: 5.2, no decision, 1 ER (4 total), 8 H, 7 K, 1 BB, 104 pitches
UAB: 7.2, L, 6 ER, 11 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 94 pitches
@ Middle Tenn: 4.0, no decision, 4 ER, 4 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 4 HBP, 83 pitches
Season totals
1-3, 5.00 ERA, 6 appearances (all starts), 36 IP, 20 ER (24 total), 45 hits, 17 K, 2 BB, 9 HBP, .306 batting average allowed
My quick recap:
5 of his 6 starts have been at home, he's going to throw strikes due to only walking 2 batters on the season, his shortest 2 outings both involved 4 hit batters each game, he's not overpowering as he averages just under 3 Ks per game but he did have 1 start where he K'd 7, other 5 starts were 3 Ks or less, he's allowed 8 or more hits in 4 of his 6 starts which explains the .306 BA allowed. With warmer temps today (1:00 pm start, sunny, 62 degrees, minimal wind) we "should" have a pretty good day at the plate but as we know there's always an upcoming TTT moment.
