Ohio Athletics

here's hoping he does what Tony did last year and just get a feel for what he needs to work on and then comes back to Ohio and plays his final year and plays HEALTHY (knock wood!)

Yeah, I think that the fact that he's not hiring an agent is a good sign that he'll be back next year. Should be a good experience for him.

Right! and why not take advantage of getting some great feedback on your game and using that in your final year of college to up your stock even more. like I said, as long as he doesn't hire an agent, I'm fine with this!

RE: MAC Basketball favorites -- 2017-2018
Every year these threads come up and every year I listen to delusional MAC West fans try to pretend they're going to be playing in the MAC Championship in Cleveland next year.

Forget it.

Last 12 years:
MAC East:
21 Appearances
11 Titles

MAC West
3 Appearances
1 Title

Did any MAC West teams even make the semis this year?

My 2018 Rankings:

1. Ohio
2. Buffalo
3. Kent State
4. Western Michigan
5. Ball State
6. Toledo
7. Bowling Green
8. Akron
9. Eastern Michigan
10. Miami
11. Northern Illinois
12. Central Michigan

Might as well give Ohio a bye to the finals because Western as a 4 seed isn't beating them. Better odds of Akron magically hiring a real coach and beating Ohio. I could see NIU making a run and knocking off some West teams above them if the seeding sets up right and they can avoid the MAC East.

I just remembered WMU's heroic run the the MAC semi-finals beating Miami and Ball State before their loss to Akron. Strangely, remembering their valiant run does not change my rankings.

RE: MAC Basketball favorites -- 2017-2018
9 of those 21 MAC East appearances belong to Akron, who it would take a miracle for them to make the finals next year. With the wheels falling off Akron and all the talent this conference is losing to graduation and transfers, the league is going to be absolutely terrible. The West will have a chance of getting a team in and even punching it's ticket. It won't be because the West has improved, but because the East has regressed.

Jimmy Hall did the same thing last year. Nothing wrong with some impartial feedback. JH came back to Kent, Simmons probably will be back at OU

Pretty good but in spite of the fact that EMU will go 14-18 and lose a first round away game in the MACC Tournament, I think they should be ranked Number Two.

Western is the only MAC West team that plays like a MAC East team ... believing Wilder is coming back .. and is arguably the best PG in the league - plus six of top seven overall coming back ... would actually put Western No. 1 ... although your point in general about the MAC West is right on target ...

WMU
Buff
Ohio

The rest ...

WMU will be real good and because they get to play the MAC West 10 times, they could very well challenge for #1

Yes, making prediction about the following season in MARCH is fraught with danger.
