Sobering realization about JUCO's
http://247sports.com/Season/2016-Basketb...iorCollege

Here is the top 36 from last year.

Of the 30, only three averaged double digits in points. The fat part of the curve was between 5 and 7 ppg.

For comparison purposes, Jimario was ranked #17.

I just become convinced with each passing day, that the plan is to roll the frosh out there and take their lumps and get experience.

JCs just to supplement. Maybe a grad just to pacify the fans.

I still don't sense urgency from the staff regarding recruiting.

IMO

Azab/JC or GT
Enoh/Rivers
Nickelberry/JC or GT
Johnson/JC or GT
Clergeot/Martin

Sell folks on the idea that it's all freshman and sophomores. Give him three years just like at TT when he went 14-18 and in two short years took them to the round of 64!

RE: Sobering realization about JUCO's
Tubby couldn't sign anyone because he was waiting on Dedric, KJ and Markel to decide.

By the time they decided, all the good players were off the board.

We will just play the new guys and set the table for Lomax and company in 2018.

^^that will be the new one^^

And then when Lomax goes to Cuonzo and Missouri, the old reliable "cheating" excuse will surface.

Book it.

RE: Sobering realization about JUCO's
Yup ... JUCOs should be guys that compliment/fill out the roster. We shouldn't count on them to be starters/ major contributors. Granted, every year there are a couple that make an impact, but they're rare.

If you're trying to find your 4th big, fine...go JUCO. If you're trying to find your starting SG...probably not a great approach.

I agree with HoopDreams. Roll the young guys out there and let em learn. Gonna be ugly either way. How many wins does a mediocre JUCO add? 1? Not worth it...

The sad part is that with Markel and KJ, you could add 3 grads and push the youth to bench roles and be competitive, but whatever at this point.

If we brought back the entire roster, we could add some guys for depth and probably be a NCAA team. But, Markel and Dedric are gone. So the season will probably be ugly...just doesn't make sense to be playing a bunch of low-end Juniors when playing low-end freshman will get you the same results, but have a higher ceiling in the longrun.

Sadly yep. Then preach patience for three years until "his guys" are experienced and he has a couple more recruiting cycles to right the ship.

I still think he has to have us back in the tourney by Year 3. Especially if next year is a step back.

I believe you've nailed Tubby's recruiting philosophy.

It's a philosophy that doesn't require high expectations... on his part either.

Everyone should just take a dose of less expectations...and get with the program.

LOL

I've been told "patience", things are "fluid", and "let things play out" for about 8 years now.

How much longer do I need to be patient oh insiders?

I think you would really be signing the JUCOs for 18-19 as opposed to next year. Bring them in and hopefully have some depth in a couple of years.
