He's done well - maybe he's reflected, but not dwelled, on mistakes made at Memphis and has changed. We could all improve by following this philosophy.

I made the comment a year or two ago that getting fired may be the catalyst that turns pastner into a good coach.

Nothing like getting das boot (or close to it) to force self reflection including self analysis of one's weaknesses.

Time will tell.

Or most likely the problems we had the last three years are still here in Memphis. And was not as much about the coach as most suggested.

RE: NIT finals
How a coach does his first year ALWAYS predicts how he does in year five, right? What have Pearl and Martin been doing wrong?

Partner wasn't that good in Memphis and us holding on him too long is the reason why the basketball program is in its current state. Georgia Tech is a good fresh start for him and it seems that he has learned from his mistakes alittle this year.

The fault was RC's, not Pastner's, IMO. Hiring an assistant who had never been a collegiate head coach at any level was the big mistake. You are correct - his teething mistakes are why we have fallen from a top 10-15 program to oblivion.

Just wait till he has to recruit his own players . He seems to have problems with the more highly ranked players. His first year here he did alright with leftover players .

Racecarguy defending pastner at every turn, now this is a new twist.

First year here. NIT 2d round.
Second year here. NCAA first game loss.
Thirds year. NCAA 1st game loss.
Fourth year. NCAA round of 32
Fifth year. NCAA round of 32, 5 wins over ranked teams.

Short of what was hoped for, but teams got better every year...then the two mediocre seasons...Austin Nichols debacle (as we see now- on Nichols)...and was time for a change.

I'm happy for Josh.
I still don't want him back.
Tubby might not be the answer, but Josh definitely isn't.

RC? Shirley? Combination of both? Sounds like you're on to something here.

The big question on everyone's mind if GT should win : Will there be a national championship parade in downtown Atlanta?
