FRAZIER'S CORNER: Winter Sports Success Builds Momentum Toward Spring Events

Again, LOTS of success in multiple sports. The doom and gloom RE: football and basketball gets tiring, some people need to wake up and see the incredible strides our athletics has made in the past few years. Major accomplishments, a lot of records, and championships.

NIU!

RE: FRAZIER'S CORNER: Winter Sports Success Builds Momentum Toward Spring Events
yeah, laugh...it is silly to point out the positives when trying to communicate with a fan base you are trying to energize and engage. I much prefer reading this information than the drivel put out by MD and his ilk.....surprising how a coach who doesn't care about offense somehow, in the midst of this difficult season, managed to get his team to score the THIRD most points in NIU basketball history. Something tells me that next year's team will top that.

I truly do not understand those that consistently seem to relish in the negative, repeat the negative, make up more negative shite, but rarely and barely even acknowledge the positive. Good for STF...I agree Huskie fans (not the fairweather type who bail and rail when there are not enough victories) have much to be proud of.

It's ok that Huskie fans are negative about the Basketball Program. You must be honest or you lose all credibility. I am a huge fan of Huskie basketball but trying to spin things by saying they scored the third most points in Huskie history is silly! They were Last, let me say it again, Last in the MAC in offense! They have been Last offensively throughout the Montgomery area. They need to get to the middle offensively and it's ok to be in the middle defensively. That's where Akron was and that's where we need to be. When they do something that's noteworthy like get over 500 in conference I'm all for shouting it out but don't try and spin things it comes across as stupid and insane!

Unfortunately the two that are doing awful right now are the higher profile sports of men's basketball and football

I don't know that basketball was awful, it just was a bit less than our expectations.

Gulp----I totally agree with you MD. I would guess that this board has some of the biggest NIU supporters and fans. How many of these threads directly, or remotely, highlight softball or volleyball or baseball or soccer, etc. Heck, our WBB team made a tournament and you can rarely find a chain. NCAA sports are 98% football and basketball---only those with good season point out the others. Double gulp and the concurrence.

MAC championships are good, even division titles, but pointing out that they're setting new school records doesn't mean that much if you are still losing.

At the Women's track and field Texas Relays the Women's Distance Medley DESTROYS the school record finishing 2nd in 11:28.22 (Prev. 11:36.53), just losing out to Clemson and beating Texas and Kansas.
